I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked... different. Not in a bad or obvious way. But I knew that I had changed since I first came here. I thought I saw something move in the reflection, and frowned. I slowly reached out to touch the mirror, which suddenly shattered beneath my touch. I-I jolted upright, the soft doona dropping off me. Something had pulled me out of my dream. Something dangerous. I held me breath and listened, carefully. There it was!
Step. Step. STEP.
Footsteps, getting closer and closer. I quick glance out the window told me it was still only about 3am. I threw the rest of the doona off, hitting Puppet in the face as I did so. Puppet groaned and sat up, but I quickly shushed him.
"Shh! Puppet, someone is coming!" I whispered frantically. Puppets eyes widened in fear, and he quickly motioned for me to hide in the louvre closet. I quietly pulled the doors open, and slipped inside, shutting the doors behind me. I peeked out of the slightly ajar louvre's to see Puppet slid down in the bed and close his eyes.
Just in time.
The door burst open and Slenderman stormed through, ripping the covers off the bed. I gasped, then quickly covered my mouth with my hands. Slenderman raged.
"Puppeteer! Why are you in here?" He roared Puppet sat up and rubbed his eyes sleepily.
"I...I wanted to be closer to her," he mumbled. Slenderman growled.
"You idiot. I thought Zero had escaped. If I find you in here again, I will tear this room apart, do you hear me? That girl is a menace. She attacked Clockwork. The poor girl still has her casts on. Zero is lucky she is alive."
I saw something snap in Puppets face.
"She is barely alive and it's all because of you! You're the monster! It should be you and that skank down in the cells, not Zero!"
I noticed Slenderman's back begin to tremble, and slowly stepped out of the closet, keeping silent and out of sight. Puppets eyes widened at me but I send him a quick hand gesture. He nodded slightly. I positioned myself at the open window. Just as Slender attacked, Puppet flew towards me and dove through the window, lifting me up off the ground. Slenderman screamed an inhuman scream behind us, as we flew as fast as we could away from the mansion. I noticed a small figure in brown and blue running below, just visible in the moonlight, and motioned Puppet to go down. We dropped in front of the figure, who skidded to a stop and gasped out loud.
"Zero!"
Ticci Toby shouted in joy as he ran into my arms, his chin resting on my head. How was I older but so much shorter?
A snap behind us sent me spinning around, only to run into a second pair of arms, more familiar this time. I looked up to see Eyeless Jack, and a tear stained Jeff. Jack lifted his mask off to reveal his sad, sharp smile.
"Zero, I'm so glad you got out," he breathed in relief. I ruffled his hair.
"Aww shucks, you don't have to be so sweet," I teased. I turned to Jeff, and he engulfed me into his embrace, holding me tightly as he shook.
"Oh god Zero, I'm so sorry," he sobbed helplessly. I rubbed his back gently.
"Hey, Jeff, it's okay! I'm leaving now, he can't touch me anymore."
Jeff sniffed and lifted my chin up.
"You're such a brave girl, you know that? I'm so proud of you!"
He gave me another hug and I laughed. He grinned and Toby handed me a rucksack full of food and my own clothes.
"Puppet t-told us he was taking you s-somewhere today, but it's l-lucky we decided to g-get organised e-early!" He stuttered kindly. I gave him a tight hug, and ran back to Puppets arms.
"You guys are honestly amazing," I sighed, a small tear working its way over my lid. They all smiled and waved.
"Go on, before slender catches you!" Jeff called. I waved again, and Puppet lifted up, soaring high over the trees. I closed my heavy, teary eyes, and fell asleep.Soon enough, I was opening them again, as a soft light and a slight bump stirred me from my dreams. I blinked in the pale morning light and looked around to find that Puppet had landed at an unfamiliar house. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Where are we?" I asked curiously. Puppet smiled.
"Home."Six months later...
I laughed hysterically on the floor across from Puppeteer as he tried unsuccessfully to unknot his ropes. His flailing hands only made things worse. I gasped and wiped my eye. Puppet glared down at his tangled hands.
"You think this is hilarious, don't you," he snapped. I burst out once more in loud laughs, crying from the pain of laughing so hard.
Since we had escaped the mansion, we had been a happy, normal couple. Well, relatively normal anyway. We still hunted, just enough to stave off the bloodlust, but not enough to draw attention to the police or he Creepypastas. Jeff, Toby and Eyeless Jack dropped around every now and then. We lived a fair way away though, so they only came a few times a year. But they never missed my birthday, or Christmas or Halloween. I smiled to myself as I watched my ridiculously perfect boyfriend finally untangle himself and give me a triumphant grin. Yep. Life was perfect.
Oh, and you may be wondering about Alice? Well, turns out she just... faded away. Peacefully. By spending all of my time with Puppet, I guess she grew tired and weak, and eventually let go. I'm glad she is gone, but I'm glad she left peacefully. So now, everything is perfect. And I love every second of it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<~~~~~~~~~~~
