The Dark Forest

Frisk hugged Toriel as well, feeling the pain this was causing for Toriel. "I-I'm so s-sorry child...I-it's selfish of me to tr-try keep you here...." Toriel said, the depressing tone of her voice growing more weary. Hope didn't break the hug. "it's okay Toriel...but...I really have to go" Frisk replied to her, feeling a bit of sadness form in the middle of their soul. Toriel broke the hug and looked at Hope. "pathetic isn't it...I can't even protect one human..." Toriel said with tears in her eyes, dangerously close to breaking down in tears. She stepped away from the door. "I cannot stop you...but child please...do take care" Toriel said, hugging Hope one last time. She broke the hug and went back upstairs. Hope looked at the stairs then over at The Ruins door. They pushed the door open and walked out of The Ruins and into Snowdin Forest. The Ruins door shut tightly behind them, leaving them out in the bitter cold of Snowdin. She shivered and started to walk, shaking from the cold. They had the eery feeling of being watched from the trees. A shiver ran down their spine and they continued to walk down the icy, snowy path surrounded by twisted and gnarled trees. They walked up to a sturdy, tough looking branch on the ground. They continued to walk. They heard a loud snap from behind them. They jumped and turned around...nothing there...the branch had been crumbled like it was nothing. They continued walking, quickening their pace to try get out of this forest as fast as they could. They heard someone walking behind them and quickened to a run. She stopped at a huge gate although if they had been thinking they would've realised the bars were wide enough to walk through. They tried to catch their breath panting heavily. They froze when they heard footsteps from behind them. The footsteps stopped, Hope knew they were right behind them. "Human...don't you know...how to greet a new pal?" They asked, their voice was more deep but still had that same, depressing tone of voice, "turn around...and shake my hand" They said, offering out their hand. Hope turned around and shook their hand. They jumped when a sudden electric shock surged through their hand. "hehe...joy buzzer trick...it's always funny" They said. The figure walked out of the shadows. They were a Skeleton with tiny purple dots as pupils, wearing a grey hoodie, black jeans and had two cracks running from their eyes. Hope looked extremely confused. "oh wait how rude of m-me I didn't even introduce m-myself...the name's Sans, Sans The Skeleton but you c-can call me Shade..." Shade said, looking a bit shy.  "Hi there Shade!" Hope said enthusiastically, if they were stuck down here they may as well try to make friends with everyone. "h-heh..." Shade chuckled a bit, still with his depression filled voice. Hope was a bit frightened but also quite excited. "You know, I'm actually s-supposed to be on the watch for h-humans right now...but I don't really c-care too much about hunting humans...but my brother...he's a human hunting-fanatic" Shade said. Hope smiles to try cheer him up. It was clear to them that many people down here are depressed and lonely. "come on...I'll show you around, just walk through that g-gate right there...yep, walk right on through...m-my bro made the bars too wide to stop a-anything" Shade said, pointing at the gate. Hope giggled and walked through the gate. Shade followed. "hm, speaking of my bro, there he is right now...quick, behind that c-conveniently shaped lamp" Shade said, pointing towards the purple and black lamp that was shaped exactly like Hope. They quickly ducked behind the lamp as Shade's brother walked over.  "Brother! You're supposed to be on patrol! what are you doing bonedoggling!?" Shade's Brother exclaimed. "h-hey Light calm down, I've gotten a ton of work done today...a Skele-ton" Shade said winking and chuckling. Hope held back laughter. "GRR Brother! Stop it with your horrible puns! and for the last time, it is The Grrreat Papyrus!" Light exclaimed. "heh, sure bro, and come on bro...that was a real rib-tickler! eyyy!" Shade said laughing. Hope was trying extremely hard not to laugh. "Brother! ugh, I'll be setting up my puzzles, there pretty Bone-errific if I do say so myself! NYEH HEH HEH!" Light exclaimed, running off. Hope came out from behind the lamp, laughing hard. Shade burst out laughing as well. "Well, I b-better follow Papyrus, I'll see ya u-up ahead" Shade said, walking ahead. Hope smiled, she liked these two.
