Scott was being discharged from the hospital today and since he was still unable to walk properly and very unsteady with his broken leg, they recommended him being in a wheelchair until his legs starts to heel.
Avi and Kevin were the ones to pick him up and sign the papers to release him, Kirstie stayed at their apartment trying to make it as homely as possible for Scott.
Scott had some clothes to change into that Kirstie brought to him yesterday, he managed to get into them with the help of some nurses then he was put in the wheelchair and wheeled out to the main entrance where Avi and Kevin were waiting with warm smiles.
"Hey buddy, how're you feeling?" Avi said positively trying to keep the conversation light hearted.
"Like I've been hit by a truck." Well that killed the mood, Avi and Kevin's smiled faded and Scott looked up at sighing realising what he done. "I'm sorry guys, I didn't think. I know you guys are grieving too."
"It's okay, Scott. You've been through a lot, we're all here for you."
Scott managed a weak smile, realising he wasn't alone. He's got some of the most greatest, kind-hearted people in the world who love him not matter what.
"T-thank you. For everything."
"It's because we love you man." Kevin replied.
"I-I love you guys too." That was the first time Scott said the words 'I love you' since...the car accident. His smile suddenly disappeared, the guys didn't want to push him so they just wheeled him out and to the car.
They were nearly back to the apartment. Avi and Kevin were telling Scott everything he had missed while being in the hospital hoping to lighten the mood but Scott only gave short responses staring out the window the whole time.
Avi finally pulled into the car park near their apartment and looked out to see Kirstie on the balcony waiting.
"Well we're here, home sweet home." Avi sighed getting out the car along with Kevin.
Home. Scott thought. The word was unfamiliar to him. Was it even a home now? He didn't know. It's just a place he is forced to live in and have all the memories of his dead boyfriend surround him.
"The doctor gave us some crutches in case you didn't want to be in a wheelchair all day. Do you want me to get them out?"
Scott nodded with a slight smile which he almost believed was real for a second.
Avi got them out and helped Scott get in them while helping him out the car. Scott wanted to thank Avi so bad but he couldn't seem to process the words. His whole mind was blank right now as he stared up at his apartment.
He saw Kirstie on his balcony, waiting. He narrowed his eyes in anger. She's standing in Mitch's spot, that's where he would wait for me to come home.
He shook his head and managed to let it slide since she couldn't have known.
When he reached the front of his door he took a deep breath and prepared himself for the sight inside. This is it. This is him going to have to get use to living alone.
Avi opened the door, leading Scott inside. The apartment looked so different, so empty, Scott almost didn't want to stay.
He looked around seeing Kirstie standing in the distance with coffee in her hands and a warm smile on her face.
"Welcome home Scotty." She greeted as cheerful as possible.
Just then Scott heard a faint giggle. His eyes widened and his head turned in the direction he heard it from. He recognised that giggle...it couldn't be. Could it?
Then he saw it and it all started rushing back to him.
Mitch ran across the room giggling, looking back and screaming.
"No! Stop!"
Scott chased after him, hands out which were covered in cookie mix. His hair and face were covered in flour which was presumably done by Mitch.
"Come on! It's only fair!" Scott shouted running after him in the other room.
Mitch then ran back out to the living room only to have been caught by Scott wrapping his arms tightly around Mitch's waist, tickling him.
"N-no! St-Ah-p! Pleas-ahaha! I c-can't bre-eathe!" Scott continued torturing Mitch, laughing at the helpless boy who tried to squirm out of his grip.
"Only if you apologise."
"I-I'm so-ah-rry!"
"Fooor?"
"Getting...fl-our in your h-ah-ir!"
"And?"
"Face!" Mitch belted out before falling into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. "Scott! Please!"
"Okay fine." Scott took away his fingers and left Mitch panting heavily trying to recover.
Mitch looked down and also realised what Scott had done to him. He gasped in horror.
"You got cookie mix all over my sweater!"
Scott smirked coming up with an idea. "Maybe you should take it off then."
Mitch rolled his eyes at him then attempted to wipe it off. "Maybe you should buy me a new one."
Scott then pushed Mitch into the kitchen counter startling him.
"Maybe I should just fuck you against this counter instead."
"Maybe you should, but you're cleaning up this mess first."
"Sounds like a deal then."
Scott shook the memory out of his head immediately before he let the tears threaten to pour out again.
"Scott?"
Scott snapped his attention to Kirstie who was now closer to him.
"S-sorry."
"It's okay, I know it must be hard coming back here." Scott just nodded shakily. "We're not going anywhere. We are going to stay as much as we're needed to. Because we love so much Scotty."
Scott felt his eyes water but not with sadness. For once, it was because he was happy. Maybe he could get through this, he has amazing people who would help him and never leave him.
He sighed letting a real smile appear before embracing Kirstie in a hug while holding on to one of his crutches. She was taken aback but didn't reject it one bit. She was slowly getting her best friend back and she couldn't be happier.
Sort of happy ending! But that's only to prepare you for what's to come, so sorry but moi has plans (evil smirk). Love you and don't forget to vote!
