CHAPTER EIGHT
After lying down comfortably with Klent, I heard the garage door opening up and when it did, Klent and I went down together to greet Cassie.
She was there by the living room beside Nathan, getting introduced to Henry, Emily and Danna. Looking at her while I go down the staircase, I can't help but notice how frail she carries herself. Like she herself is afraid that she might break down just by socializing. Yet she's very pretty. The time when I saw her at Charles's diner, her pale blonde hair was in a very messy bun and she looked so haggard then, yet her charm was still visible. And now, her blonde hair was in loose curls and she wore a petty dress and a bit of make-up, this time highlighting her beauty.
"Yes and--Oh, there's Megan." Nathan cut off mid-sentence. Though I noticed the way he got nervous when he saw me and how Cassie reached for my brother's hand in a blink.
"Hi..." Cassie trailed off.
I raised an eyebrow, "Hi...." I gazed at them both, "What's with you two?"
Nathan looked at me. Ignored me (how rude). And set off introducing Klent.
"Okay now that introductions are over, let's set off and eat!" Emily declared. I wanted to say, "No Em, introductions are not done since Nathan just went all 'Oh there's Megan' and Cassie went all 'hi' like I'm going to bite. So no, that is not an introduction." But of course, I kept my mouth shut like the good girl I am.
Danna hopped her way to the dining room as she says, "Great! I'm famished!"
Klent and I let everyone go first and when they are all inside the dining room, I said, "Let's go!"
But instead of walking with me, he surprised me by hugging me from the back and kissed me on the cheek.
I blushed as I hugged the hands that are wrapped on my waist, "What was that for?"
"You just look perfect..." He whispers.
I rolled my eyes though inside, I'm doing cartwheels! "Perfect? Klent, I'm wearing boxers printed with bunny heads and a white shirt!"
He shrugged, let go of the hug and took me by the hand as we walk to the dining room. "Wouldn't mind even if you are wearing a sack, you'd still look perfect. Always."

"So, when did you guys started dating?" I asked as I took a bite of my pork katsudon. Emily is such a great cook!
"Last month." Cassie answered for Nathan.
I glared at the pair of them, "And you haven't told me because?"
Nathan rolled his eyes, "Sorry Mother."
"No seriously, why?" I asked desperately.
"Um... I actually told Nathan to not tell you specifically..." Cassie said awkwardly.
"Why?" I threw my hands up in the air.
"I'm scared you might not like me... or hate me as a matter of fact." Cassie said so slowly as if by doing that, it would make her message something that you can wave your hands off with. I must admit, my mouth did this open-and-close-and-so-on thing that gold fishes do.
"Why?" I asked again, truly exasperated already.
Cassie kinda drew back in as she eats; I know what she's thinking. That she wants to disappear, for the earth to open and swallow her down, or for the food to eat her instead the other way around.
