"May I ask you a question?", Maek Jong cleared his throat.

"Sure", Su-Jin said. Both of them were moderately riding their horses through the forest when Maek Jong remembered a question he had for her.

"Why is your dress cut?", he asked.

Su-Jin glanced down at her dress before answering, "Oh, I cut it because I didn't want it to get caught in the branches. Plus I was really uncomfortable with the cloth trailing behind me".

The way she had answered casually made Maek Jong glad. He was happy that Su-Jin was comfortable with him now.

He slowly nodded and made an 'o' shape with his mouth.

Conversation end

Sad, but true, there was no other topic for them to talk about, and the atmosphere was somewhat awkward.

Su-Jin did her best not to make any eye contact while Maek Jong thought of what they could talk about.

Oh I know, I'll ask her about her life, childhood and all, he thought.

"So, have you traveled before?", he started.

Su-Jin's head snapped at Maek Jong's direction and tilted her head up, thinking, then she looked at him again and said, "I guess you could say that..."

"What do you mean?"

"Not really travel; more like sneaking out of the palace and wandering around."

"Rebellious, huh?"

"Hey, I may be stubborn at times but I'll have you know that I am at the same time very mature and...", she trailed off.

"A~nd?" (a/n: read as 'aaaaand' or smth like that)

"Proper?", she said before laughing a bit.

Wait-
Did she just laugh? She did!, he thought.

"Oh, you laughed", he said, almost sounding amazed.

"Uh, yeah, I laugh, I'm not incapable of laughing you know" she said with a tone, "Why are you so surprised?".

"Nothing, it's just that it's the first time I have heard you laugh".

"Really?"

"Yes, really"

"Hmm, okay", was all she said before turnig her head to face the path.

A~nd conversation end...again, Maek Jong let out a quiet sigh before focusing on the path they were going on.
