Tyler's P.O.V:
I was relieved when Josh said he was able to stay at my place tonight. I was scared of being alone in case I had another dream about Ruby. See, the hard part about having happy dreams is waking up and realizing that it'll never happen. It was tantalizing. Horrifying. Just as bad as nightmares.
I led Josh to my house. My mom never really cared if I had anyone overnight, but I never had before.
I opened the door for him and he walked in. When I shut the door, my mom called out from the kitchen. "Ty? Is that you, bud?"
"Yeah, mom." He responded loud enough for her to hear. "I brought a friend, though. He's gonna stay the night." My mom then walked into the entryway where Josh and I were taking off our shoes. She smiled.
"So nice to see you with a friend, Tyler!" She turned to Josh. "What's your name?"
"I'm Josh." He said politely. I wondered if he was going to tell her that we had met at the hospital, but then I realized that my mom might be a little freaked if I had someone I had just met that day over at our house.
"Nice to meet you Josh. You boys can go do your own thing, I have cookies that'll be ready in about fifteen minutes." We smiled and thanked her. Then I grabbed Josh's hand and led him to my room, which was the basement.we went down the stairs in the dark. When we reached the bottom, I flipped the lights on. The basement was pretty big, and I was lucky to have as a room. I was able to fit whatever I needed for music in there, along with my bed, dresser, close, and everything.
My walls were littered with band and movie posters. I watched Josh take it all in. "Nice room." He breathed. He saw my keyboard and his eyes lit up. "Dude, how cool would it be if we played music down here? Maybe I could bring my drum kit over!" He exclaimed excitedly. I grinned.
"That'd be pretty sick."
"Sick as frick." He agreed, and we both started laughing.
He ripped his gaze away from my keyboard. I could feel his eyes following me as I walked over to my dresser and put my ukulele on top of it. "What do you do down here besides playing music and sleeping and stuff?" He asked me.
I shrugged. "Watch movies, play video games, listen to music, normal anti-social teenager stuff." Josh grinned.
"What movies do you have?"
"I'll show you which ones." I led him over to a shelf. My mom originally bought it for me to put books on, but we both knew that would never happen. It had CD's, DVD's, VCR's, video games, all sorts of things. Maybe a few music books.
After spending a few minutes looking through the movies I had, Josh picked one off the bottom shelf: Edward Scissorhands. I hadn't watched that one in a long time, and I was cool with anything Josh wanted to watch, so I started the movie on my tv. After about twenty minutes, my mom called us upstairs for some cookies. We ate a few and chatted a bit, then Josh and I headed back downstairs.
For a while, we just sat at the foot of my bed, staring up at the screen. I'm pretty sure Josh's eyes were tearing up when Kim was all like 'hold me' and Edward said 'I can't'... I mean, you can't blame him... Anyway, by the time the movie was over, it was around 6:45. Mom had said she'd bring us some fast food since she didn't feel like cooking. I totally empathize. Cooking is not one of my strong points. She'd left around twenty minutes ago.
I was about to text her when I heard the front door unlock. "I'm home!" She called out loudly. A heavenly smell wafted downstairs. I sniffed the air. Oh sweet Jesus. It was Taco Bell.
