After Megumi, Sanosuke, and Shippo had their fun swimming around, they joined Miroku and Sango who were just watching them enjoy themselves like crazy.
“This is just too incredible to believe, Sango! I can't believe such a thing is really possible.” Megumi stated. Sango laughed.
“I’m glad you approve, Megumi. Are you ready to come meet my family?”
“I know I am.” Sanosuke stated.
“Me too!” Megumi squealed. Shippo let out an excited bark.
“Well, Sango, I guess that makes it official.” Miroku pointed out. The friends laughed.
“Only one question, how far is it?” Sanosuke asked.
“Not very far. Just a little ways.”
“Well than, I say lead the way.” Megumi stated. Smiling, Sango took the lead while everyone followed. As they swam along, Megumi couldn’t get over how clearly she was able to see things.
“It's like looking into a 3-D screen. Everything’s so clear and bright.”
“It's hard to believe a little piece of seaweed can make all this possible.” Sanosuke stated. After a while, they came across a large reef that was full of brightly lit coral.
“Oh my gosh! Even the reef is so much more colorful! This is so incredible!” Megumi squealed.
“This reef is the first sighting of my homeland. The entrance is just ahead.” Sango explained. Just then, Sango stopped in front of a large rock.
“What's wrong, Sango?” Miroku asked.
“Nothing is wrong. We’ve just arrived at the entrance to my homeland.”
“The main entrance to the world of the mermaids is a rock?” Sanosuke asked. Sango giggled.
“Of course not, it's what's behind the rock.” They all watched as Sango swam up close to the rock and held up her starfish necklace. Suddenly, her necklace started glowing. To their amazement, so did the rock. Just then, the rock disappeared completely revealing a hidden cave entrance. Sango swam through the entrance.
“Are you coming?” Unsure of what to expect, they all followed her into the cave. As soon as they were through, the rock suddenly reappeared sealing the entrance.
“That was...unexpected.” Sanosuke mentioned.
“Somehow I get the feeling that was only the beginning.” Miroku stated. Anxious, they all followed Sango through the cave. It wasn’t long until they came to a bright light.
“We're here.” Sango announced. She swam into the heart of the light as it seemed to engulf her. The others had to cover their eyes at first. Once the light cleared, they were able to open them.
“Huh?!”
“What the?!”
“No way!” They couldn’t begin to fathom what they were seeing. They had just walked into a giant underwater kingdom. It was full of brightly lit fish and coral. There were lots of other mermaids swimming around there as well. They all had fish tails and long hair that sparkled with several different colors. But the thing that was most impressive was the giant castle in the middle of the land. It looked like it had been carved out of giant rocks that were all crushed together. In fact, all the houses there looked like they had been carved out of rocks. Fish were swimming through all the cracks. The mermaids were going through all the sea life that was growing there. It looked like they were gardening. Miroku, Sanosuke, and Megumi all had their jaws dropped.
