After the mermaid's tear was retrieved, everyone returned to the mermaid kingdom. Everyone cheered as the mermaid's tear was returned to its home. They especially cheered when Miroku and Sango came out of the cave hand in hand. Sango squeezed Miroku's hand tightly as she couldn’t stop smiling. Just then, King Makoto and Queen Yumi appeared. On seeing her father, Sango rushed up to give him a hug.

“Father, your wound is...” King Makoto put his hands on her shoulders.

“No need to worry. It will be alright. Right now, the only thing I can even think about is how proud I am of you. You really have grown into a brave young woman, my daughter.” Sango smiled as she hugged her father tightly. As Miroku stood behind them, he couldn’t help but smile. Just then, Sango came up to him and took hold of his hand.

“Father, now that we have retrieved the mermaid's tear---” King Makoto held up his hand.

“There is no need to repeat yourself, my child. I am fully aware of your desires. As we speak, the hieroglyphics that hold the key to the transformation are being deciphered and it is only a matter of time before we have the results.” On hearing that, Sango and Miroku were so happy they couldn’t stop hugging each other.

“Miroku, it really will work out. Won't it?”

“Yes, it will.” Sango was so happy as Miroku held her in his arms. King Makoto and Queen Yumi couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing how happy their daughter was brought them so much joy. Just then, a fish man carrying a scroll approached them.

“My lord, we have succeeded in decoding the manuscripts.”

“Very good.” Taking the scroll from his hand, King Makoto looked it over.

“Just as I thought.”

“What is it, Father?” King Makoto put the scroll down.

“Just like in the legend, the first thing we need to do is place the mermaids tear somewhere where both the light and the water can reach it. After that, we wait for it to rain. Then, you two must drink the rain water that falls onto the tear and share a kiss. It is after that, that the transformation will take place.” Miroku formed a surprised look on his face.

“Wait a second. So you’re saying that it's not the mermaid's tear itself that causes the transformation but the water it produces?” Smiling, King Makoto nodded.

“But, in the legend it goes to say that---”

“Yes I know. It says that the young fish man placed the tear on the top of that peak and lift it there, but that was incorrect. The truth is after some time had passed, he gathered the rain water underneath it and took it back to the princess. After she managed to swallow some, he took a drink himself and then he kissed her for the transformation to take place.” Miroku frowned.

“Even so, there’s no indication about what the results were.” King Makoto shook his head.

“I’m afraid not. It was impossible to determine the results. So there’s no way of knowing the results for this time either.” Miroku squeezed Sango's hand as she gripped him tightly.

“Are you both truly sure you want to do this?” King Makoto asked.

“I know I do. I don’t care about the fact I could become a fish man, but...” Looking a Sango, she smiled.

“I’m sure too. As long as I can be with Miroku, I'll be happy.” Queen Yumi smiled as she nodded to her husband.

“I had a feeling you would say that. In that case, it's up to you where you want to place the mermaid's tear.” Miroku turned around to see Megumi, Sanosuke, and Shippo there smiling. With a smile, he floated up to them.
