Dan's POV

"Daniel, Daniel, wake up sweetie." Dan opened his eyes and squinted at the woman that was gently shaking him awake. "Come on Dan, you have school today." His mother said encouragingly. Just because she said it like that wasn't going to make him get up out of bed faster. "Yeah, Mum I'm awake." He mumbled. "Good! Now get your bum out of bed and get dressed!" She said throwing open the curtains, revealing the horrible light of day. "Mum, close the curtains, I don't really like the idea of people looking at me while I'm trying to get dressed." Dan grumbled as he found the energy to pull himself out of the bed. His Mum frowned, but closed the curtains anyways. "See you down stairs in a few minutes for breakfast. It's exciting isn't it?! Starting a new school!" She smiled and bounced out of the room.

Dan trudged over to the small chest of drawers that was squished between his desk and the wall. He opened the top drawer and stared into the black abyss. After much thinking he finally chose his favourite (not to mention his only) pair of black jeans and a My Chemical Romance t-shirt. He quickly pulled them on and went down the stairs.

"Morning, Pumpkin!" His Mum said cheerfully with a big smile on her face. "Morning Mum." Dan said back. He looked at the table, there was pancakes and orange juice on the table. He sat down and started eating. His Mums pancakes were the best. "So?" Dan's Mum said as she grabbed her toast and sat down across from him. "So, what Mum?" Dan replied. His mother could be a bit vague sometimes. "Are you excited?" She squeaked. "Umm yeah, if excited means absolutely dreading the goddamn thing. Oh. Mum, where's the eye pencil?" I wanted to wear a bit of eyeliner into school. She sighed. "Daniel, you are not wearing eyeliner on your first day of a new school!" She said. Dan gave her a look. "Fine!" His Mum said. "But if anybody says anything, I'm not going to say I told you so!" Dan laughed.

"Thanks Mum, where is it?" Dan asked. "On the counter sweetheart." Dan walked over and grabbed the pencil, walked into the bathroom and started applying. Suddenly, his Mum screeched. "Daniel! The bus!!!" Dan knew what she meant, he was slightly late. He grabbed his bag and ran down the street to the bus stop.

He wasn't late, which disappointed him greatly.
