Hiccup POV
It has been three years since I left Berk on Toothless. At first, every day has been a struggle, surviving the winters and finding food. But now I've changed. I met all kinds of dragons, helping and saving them from hunters and Vikings. The Red Death was conquered finally, though, at the cost of my leg. We made the Hellheim's Gate our home ever since we defeated the queen and now it has become a sanctuary for dragons everywhere. Thanks to the dragons, my senses heightened and I've learned to use my body at it most potential.
Suddenly, Toothless bounced on me with his gummy smile. I laughed, wrestling him to the ground as he playfully batted me with his paws.
"Happy Snoggletog, Toothless!", Toothless crooned in reply, nudging my head with his own. He started licking me and I grimaced in the slobber.
"Toothless, you know that doesn't wash out!" Toothless just grumbled in reply, a cheeky tooth-grin on his face. Lousy dragon.
I stood up, watching the other dragons wandering around the island. Hellheim's gate has been the best home since Berk and all the dragon inhabitants living here has been so kind to me. Dragons growled happily in reply as I walk past and I nodded in response. The herd of Terrible Terrors jumped on me soon enough and warbled cheers in reply. I laughed as their claws tickled all over my body. Toothless, soon enough, roared and the small dragons scattered around playfully. Even though I left Berk, it doesn't mean I would abandon Snoggletog. Snoggletog was my favorite holiday and I love celebrating it with my new family.
A loud roar was heard. My hair was blown away and I almost flew off if Toothless wasn't there to hold on to. My brown hair stuck out in all directions and I smoothed it down, shaking my head. I know that roar. I looked up, my green eyes meeting red.
"Hi, SD." He growled in reply and held up his tail in reply. It had a spear embedded in it. I winced at the injury and a shot of anger went through me. Vikings. They should know better than hunt dragons still on Snoggletog. SD is a Screaming Death, a cousin of the Whispering Death. We found him injured on an island and at first, he was about to bite my head off. But stubborn as I am, I managed to convince the white dragon to let me tend to his wounds and we've been friends since.
"Let me see the wound." He laid his tail in front of me and I used my hands to pull the spear out of his tail. The white dragon screamed in pain when the spear finally was taken out. I meticulously apply some medicine on it and wrapped bandages around it.
"There, all done." I patted his body for good measure and he crooned in thanks. I was about to leave, but then his tail stopped me from leaving. His head nuzzled me, which surprised me because SD wasn't one for contact. I looked up at the Screaming Death and his mouth opened, revealing a wooden chest. I raised an eyebrow and took the chest covered in drool from him. While Toothless was hovering over my shoulder, I opened it, revealing axes, bolas, and shields and I stared at the Berk symbol engraved on them. The Whispering Death groaned at me and I stifled a laugh when I noticed how nervous he was. You wouldn't believe that he destroyed an entire island once.
"SD, I love it. Happy Snoggletog." The Screaming Death humphed in reply and flew away without saying goodbye. I snorted. Stubborn reptile. I bet he got that injury when he stole those weapons. I lightly graze my fingers over the Berk symbol engraving and I admit, I was homesick.
Toothless nudged my head and crooned curiously at me. I smile and stroked the top of his head, feeling his scales brush against my hand. Toothless always noticed my feelings and I am always grateful for him. I may miss Berk, but I wouldn't replace the home I have now. Looking back at the Snoggletog present SD gave me and the cheers I received from the dragons, I chuckled. I wouldn't replace this for the whole world.
