Lucas's POV
Alright this is it. Time to tell her. "Henleigh..."
"What's up Luke?"
"Umm... I don't really know how to put this..."
"Lucas" I suddenly felt chills running down mine spine. She touched me. She touched my arm. This may not be a big deal to any other guy, but to me this was it. This was the moment where I would have to tell the girl I had had a crush on since the day I met her that she may never see her best friend again. She is absolutely breathtaking and has the kindest heart of anyone. She's not like other girls. She's... she's different.
"Lucas you can say it," she was biting back tears, "she's not coming back is she?" Here it comes. Here comes the tears.
"No no no! Don't cry Leigh! It's okay." I reached over and pulled her close. I could feel her heart beating fast. "Leigh it's okay. We don't know anything for sure yet."
"We don't have to get any kind of confirmation Lucas. I know what's going to happen."
"Leigh, please don't cry. It's going to be okay. We'll get through this. Together. Okay?" I asked hoping for that same, beautiful smile I loved.
"Lucas, I'm so scared. If I'm this scared, how is Sam even surviving?"
I decided now was my chance. I pulled Henleigh as close as I could and kissed the top of her head. "You're going to be okay Leigh. You're stronger than anyone I've ever met." That's when my beautiful girl said the thing that wrenched my heart.
"That's what Sam used to say."Max's POV
How could I let this happen? How could I let my teammate and former bunk mate's sister get kidnapped by these awful men? I knew what they were capable of. I'd been through this same kind of lifestyle myself. I used to be best friends with Lucas. We were in the Army together. We did everything together. Now, I haven't seen him in a year. I was dishonorably discharged from the Army a year and a half ago for drugs. I've decided to never go back to that lifestyle. I hurt Lucas and Sam both. When I last saw Sam was 3 years ago. She was 15! I only knew it was her because of the sound in her voice. That determination. The exact same as Lucas's. I have to get her out of here. I knew what these men were capable of. None of it good. As I crept towards the room where they were keeping her, I heard loud, deep voices.
"WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!"
"Well what do you propose? She's out cold if don't remember!" The man said with an edge in his voice.
"We'll deal with this in the morning. I'm tired and we're all gonna need our strength for tomorrow."
What was tomorrow? I'm sure whatever it is, it won't be good for Sam or myself. It's time. Now or never.
