Dylan's POV
"SAM." oh my gosh. I raced towards the dark figure grabbing Sam. "I lunged at the man and pushed him to the ground. I beat the crap out of him. "don't. touch. her. again." I said between breaths. I knocked the man out cold. I looked up to check on Sam, but she was gone. I heard the distant screams. "SAM!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I looked towards the woods, to the line of trees, and I saw it. I would never forget that sight. they were hauling blind folded Sam towards a truck waiting in the dense forest. I used my baseball skills as best I could and raced as fast as my legs would carry me towards the group of people. when I finally reached the woods, I was too late. they had already grabbed her. she was gone. the girl that I loved, the girl that I was supposed to protect with my life. she was gone. what if I never found her again? what if she was gone forever? no, Dylan. don't think like that. God is always with you and he is ALWAYS with Sam. I decided to pray a quick prayer, "God, please be with Sam. keep her safe. I can't live without her. I need her. Coach Matt needs her. Lucas, Drew, and Jake need her. keep her safe Lord. Amen." I had no time to waste. I sprinted towards Henleigh, Bethany, and Andrew. I had never seen Henleigh look so scared. "Dylan, what happened!?" "they just took her. the tala ban took her. we have to get her back." my jaw was set firm. we ran to the car and tried to track down the truck for what felt like hours. finally, at 5:00 am, the sun started to peak above the treetops and we knew it was time to bring in reinforcements. Andrew called some of his military buddies and we went to the police station. after about 3 hours of explaining everything and filling out paperwork, I had come to the conclusion that it should be me to make the call. the call to coach Matt, Drew, Jake, and Lucas. I made the call to Coach first. I didn't regret making the calls, I just regretted taking my eyes off of Sam for a few seconds. if I would've just watched her the entire time or not even let them go outside in the first place, none of this would've ever happened. after I explained everything, coach matt said something I definitely wasn't expecting. "Dylan, I know how much you care about Sam and we will get her back, but don't place the blame on yourself. let's say you wouldn't have let them go outside. you may have prevented it from happening last night, but what was going to stop them from finding another way or place to take her? God will bring her back safely. we have to believe in that." I believed in that, but if we didn't get Sam back soon, it was going to become harder and harder by the second.
