Sam's POV

Light poured through the window that was boarded up with wooden planks. "Wake up you lazy good-for-nothing!" I felt a hard slap across my face. I screamed in pain. I felt a bad taste rise up in my mouth. I spat blood all over the ugly face that was 5 inches from my face.
"GET UP!" He yelled.
I sat straight up. "I can't! You zip tied me to the chair in case you forgot!" Wrong choice of words. I knew it the minute I said it.
"You really want to get an attitude with me!? That's it!" He punched me right in the gut. All of a sudden the door leading to the basement flew open. "Max!"
"Sam! Stay there!" Not like I could really go anywhere anyways.
"Please, Max help me! They're hurting me!" I managed a scream in pain. All the men in the room started fighting all around me. Then I heard it. The sound I'll never forget. A gunshot.

Henleigh's POV

What just happened here? Did Lucas and I have a hidden relationship that I didn't know about? I mean he's all I've ever wanted in a guy. He's kind, sweet, such a good Christian, and he's not horrible to look at. I was confused right now. About everything. Sam and Lucas it was all just so much.
*a soft knock on the door*
"Yeah?" I asked quietly, in between soft cries.
"Hey, Leigh can I come in?" It was Lucas. My heart skipped a beat.
"Yeah of course you can." Even though I just saw him last night, my heart hurt from missing him. Lucas came into the room that Sam had been sleeping in.
"Leigh I'm sorry."
"Sorry? What on earth could you be sorry for?"
"I upset you last night and I'm sorry. The last thing I ever want to do is make you cry." Oh no here came the tears again. "No no no! I'm so sorry Henleigh. I'm obviously really bad at this whole thing." I could tell Lucas was struggling to find the right words.
"Lucas no!" I inched closer to him. "I'm not crying because I'm upset. I'm crying because I care about you so much and my heart just aches for you." Lucas stood up immediately and walked over to me. "Lucas what, what are you doing?" Lucas put his hands around my waist and pulled me in for a warm, long kiss. We reluctantly pulled away from each other. I never wanted this moment to end. But it had to. It had to if we ever wanted to get Sam back.
