It was October. Leaves were falling and it was getting colder. There was a lot of gossip and rumors going around my grade about the school trip. We knew almost nothing about our trip and we were all a bit scared. We had heard that we weren't aloud to eat if we didn't get a question right while we sat down for meals. We heard that we went on six hour hikes in the mountains with places as steep as a ski run. We would be there for two weeks and we all knew that something would go down.
We had about two weeks before the trip and Jackie and I were very excited. We had a packing list given to us by our teacher and had to follow it exactly. Some things on the list we didn't have so we took that excuse to do some serious shopping. We would also have to buy snacks for the five hour bus ride up, and the ride down.

It was Sunday evening. Tomorrow we would leave for school and leave home for two weeks! Bing! Bing! I launched across my bed like a missile and grabbed my phone off the night stand. I had gotten a text from Max.

Max: Are you excited?
Avery: Duh! You idiot...
Max: Whatever are you packed?
Avery: Yeah I just finished. Have you?
Max: Yeah and we r hanging out on bus right?
Avery: yeah. You wanna ft? It'll be easier.

Max and I had a long conversation via face time and I found out that Sam had dumped him and that he had asked out Harrison. I was really angry because he had now asked out/dated pretty much every girlfriend that I had! But me being a good friend went: "I'm so sorry are you ok?" And "Go for it! She'll most likely say yes!". I had to go to bed so I hung up at around 11:00 pm. I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep that night. I finally fell asleep around 2:30 am.BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I sat up so suddenly that I knocked my alarm clock off of the table followed by my phone. I quickly got dressed in a white turtleneck, blue jeans, my converse, and a white hat with a white (heavenly soft) fluff ball on top. I put on some mascara and lipstick and ran downstairs. My parents were already up to see us off. "Bye you guys! See you in two weeks! Don't forget to pick us up you guys." I said laughing. I hugged my dad who looked like he was about to cry.
"Come on Dad. Man up! It's only two weeks." Jackson said matter a factly. We all laughed as I hugged my mom and we left carrying our duffle bags and our snack filled backpacks to our bus stop. We were lucky and caught both busses and were some of the first students their along with our friends. We all got on the same bus and set up camp in the very back by the bathroom. Harrison and Addison whined but the back was many rows away from the teachers, we had easy access to the bathroom and there was a bit of a wall blocking of the front of the bus from us. After I told H+A the pros of the back they stopped and settled in. We had laid down a pillow and blanket on the surprisingly clean floor in case someone wanted to sleep. It was now about 8:30 and it was time to go. Mrs. S was at the front of the bus calling role. Everyone was here and accounted for. "Alright everyone, we will be leaving in a few minutes. Make sure you have everything and are comfortable. We will be stopping in about four hours so make sure that you have some type of food and drink with you!" We all settles in to our seats and immediately began talking to each other. In the back Jackie and I had two backpacks full of food and four sodas. We started eating and sharing food between us and our friends. We left and I wrapped myself in a fuzzy blanket and tried to sleep. I put in some earbuds to block out the noise. I felt that something wasn't right because my friends went quiet. I opened one eye to Addison leaning over me with a pen. I screamed and kicked her off of me. She fell on her butt and we all began to laugh. She just smiled and stood up. Addison leaned over again and stole my bag of chips. Before I could react she opened the bag and grabbed a handful and ate them. I looked to the seats in front of me and nudged Sam. I pointed and we both laughed. In front of us was Harrison pressed against the window with a very much awake Max laying on top of her.
^~^ Time skip one hour ^~^
Max got up to use the restroom and Harrison leapt out of her seat. We all laughed and she groaned. "I couldn't even move! He was pressing against me and he was sweating on me!" While Max was taking a whiz Harrison enjoyed her free time and laughed with us and ate our food. We heard the bathroom door click and Harrison flew back to her seat. It wasn't that she was scared of him. She had promised that she would sit with him but what she hadn't bargained for was him to press up against her. Harrison knew that Max only wanted a girlfriend to raise his self esteem but he was her friend and she needed to keep the ones she had close so she wouldn't loose them. "I'm so bored!" I groaned. Sam and Jackie laughed as I longingly looked out the window at the fast food restaurants we passed. Then I saw it: the two Golden Arches of happiness. The red walls and big windows with signs advertising their food. My mouth started watering as I thought of the heavenly fries and large cokes. Then it was gone. I sank in my seat and watched as my ghost left my body.
I woke to Otto pinching my cheeks. Otto was a new student this year and disliked by my grade. He mostly hung out with the girls in younger grades which caused many to not believe that he was in my grade. Otto wore a loose tank top and some shorts. Cradling his feet were pumas. Otto was dating Addison so I was surprised when he touched my face. I didn't blush like some of the girls in the other grades would. I looked him dead in the eye and smacked his hands away. "Why. The. Fuck. Are. You. Disrupting. My. Dream. About. McDonald's?!" I had only been out for half an hour but we would be stopping soon to fill up the busses and let us stretch our legs. The next half hour contained many friends and me swearing about just about everything and playing on our phones.

Avery: Hey what's up😏
Max: This is AWESOME! Harrison and I have sat together this entire time! I can't believe that she would actually want to sit with this ugly fat idiot.
Avery: STOP. We are on a sort of vacation from school and stress. Can we take a break from this ugly fatty nonsense? It's not true and it's terrible watching you kill yourself like this.
Max: Read

Did he seriously just leave me on read? I growled and tapped on his shoulder. "What the fuck?" He rolled his eyes and looked back at Harrison's peaceful face. She had fallen asleep using Max as some sort of human heater. I looked towards the front of the bus and saw Mrs. S standing up. Everyone became quiet. "Thank you. Now everyone we shall be stopping in the next five minutes at a gas station. You may leave the bus to stretch your legs and buy snacks. Come back by noon and we'll eat lunch." She sat back down and we all started talking again. It was 11:35 when we pulled up next to the second bus and we all got out. Jackie, Otto and I went into the gas station and looked around. Otto found a black shirt that had a picture of a pug. When he found me looking at it and giggling, he quoted the caption. "What the pug are you looking at?" I laughed and grabbed some snacks. I was about to pay when Otto put his stuff on the table and gave the cashier some money. I thanked him and we went to find Addison and Harrison. We couldn't find them and retreated back to the bus in time for role and lunch. We still had two hours left and I noticed Harrison sitting on the arm rest laughing along with Jackson. Bing! I looked at my phone at the notification.
