My eyes fluttered open one after the other. Our alarm clock was beeping and I sat up. My hair was poking up in all directions and some of it was stuck to my face. I grabbed a towel, shampoo and conditioner, clean clothes, and headed to the shower.
I turned on the water and let the warm water wash away the grime from my skin. I scrubbed my body until I was sure I was perfectly clean and began to work on my hair. I turned off the water and dried myself off. I changed into black tights and a gray sweatshirt and slipped on my converse. I tied my silver hair into a messy bun and walked back into my room to join my bunk mates.
There would be a surprise inspection some time during the day and the girls (and boys) with the cleanest rooms would win a day of phone usage. I wanted to win so that I could text my parents and see how they were doing while others wanted to check social media and watch their shows on Netflix.
Once our room was clean we walked to the dining room for breakfast. Cathryn walked up behind me and grabbed my shoulder. "Hey!" She said cheerfully.
"What's up?" I replied with a smile.
"Not much we just haven't really talked since we got up here." She matched my smile.
"That's true. We'll have to hang out during free time or you could sit with us during breakfast!" I exclaimed.
She nodded with a little "we'll see" and slipped away, her red curls bouncing behind her. I smiled to myself as I walked up the stairs that led to the dining room. I was the first to the bathroom so I took my time washing my hands.
I walked to my usual table and waited for Addison, Harrison, and Max to show up. I didn't care much for Otto even though we had been hanging out more. I saw Addison and Harrison and waved them over. Addison sat down great fully and punchcard he bridge of her nose.
I turned to Harrison and asked "What's wrong with her?" Harrison sigh was followed by a serious tone.
"She told Otto that she wanted to sit with someone new today since we can only have six per table. We overheard you and Cathryn and she decided to open a seat for her. Otto took it the wrong way and is over there crying."
I followed her stare and saw Otto with his head on the table being comforted by non other than my sister, Sam, Cathryn, and a few of their friends.
"Screw him." I said simply. Harrison laughed and I joined. Max sat down and I quickly filled him in. A few minutes later, right before we could get food, Cathryn sat down in a humph.
"Those Bastards!" She cried.
I looked at her confused. "What?" I asked.
"Someone wanted to sit down which meant we would be over the seat limit so I offered to get up. The person sat down and not a single person stood up and said that I should stay! I know it sounds childish but I've sat there everyday and those are my friends! You know Ella Shaun? She offered to get up before me and everyone was like 'No Ella! Please Stay!' Its just ugh! If only Otto wasn't there everyone would have their normal seats!" She groaned and face planted.
I looked at Harrison and she met my eyes with a 'That's messed up' look. We all stood up and got our food. For the rest of breakfast we forgot all about Otto and just enjoyed ourselves.
After breakfast we had a bit of free time before our hikes and I walked the halls, bored. I passed Sam's room and heard a sniff. I peeked in and saw a certain pink headed beauty sitting on her bed...crying?
I walked in and sat in front of her. She looked at me and I grabbed a tissue. Her mascara had smeared so I wiped away the makeup and her tears. Once her face was clean she rested her head on my crossed legs and began to tell me what had almost happened during breakfast.
