"Hey Kacey. Wanna dance?"

I pause for a moment, making sure he is talking to me. I'm about to say yes, when Sara starts talking.

"Why would you wanna dance with her?" she asks Nick, stepping in front of me. "Because she's cool," he says, trying to get to me, but Sara keeps blocking him.

"Cool? Nick, she is the biggest loser at this school. If you want to dance with someone cool, it should be me," she argues. He finally gets to me, and grabs my hand. "Kacey isn't a loser. She's the nicest girl at this school. And being cool doesn't always have to mean being popular. Come on Kacey," he says, pulling me away.

Once we're away from Sara, he puts his hands on my waist and I put mine on his shoulder. "Sorry about her," he says. I shake my head. "It's fine. I'm used to it by now,"  I tell him.

"That's not okay that you're used to it. That means she's done it so much, it isn't new to you," he says. "It isn't. She's been doing it since third grade," I reply.

"Third grade? Wow. I didn't know it had been that long. Why didn't you tell anybody, like a teacher?" he asks me. "It just got so common, it didn't bother me anymore, so I didn't see why I should tell a teacher about something that wasn't bothering me," I shrug.  "You've got some thick skin, Jensen," he laughs.

We end up just swaying for awhile. Then I ask him a question.

"Why'd you ask me?" I ask. "Ask you what? To dance?" he replies. I nod. He smiles a little. "Why wouldn't I?"

"Because you're the most popular guy in school," I say. "And you're the coolest girl I know," he laughs. "Oh yeah?" I ask. "Yeah," he replies, still laughing a little.

"How so?" I smile. "Well first off, you have a cool purple streak in your hair," he says, motioning to it. "Second, you're smart. Third, you're an amazing singer," he says, listing things. But I stop him at three.

"You've heard me sing?" I ask. "Yeah. Once I was at Jillian's house with her brother and we heard you singing," he laughs. I feel myself turn red. "Oh God," I mumble, looking down. "No, no! You're good, really. Almost as good as me," he jokes. "No, nobody at Westlake High is as good as you," I tell him. It's true, Nick is an amazing singer.

The song ends, and Nick's friends come up, and drag him away to go show him some video. Then I hear someone behind me.

"Oh, Kacey. You broke our little deal. Now, you're going to pay."

So here's chapter 2! And I know Daniela Nieves (who is playing Kacey in this) is in Every Witch Way with Nick and her character on the show has a purple streak, but that isn't why I put her in here.
