(Phoenix POV)

Yuno, Stephanie, and I were waiting for the others to come back from their weekly supply run. Instead of just sitting there, Yuno suggested a target practice. We went to the front parking lot of the motel and drew a bullseye in marker on the wall.

I sat on the side and watched, not wanting to waste my energy practicing something I was already an expert at.

Yuno handed Stephanie one of her throwing knives, "First, grip it like this" Yuno said, showing Stephanie a way to grip it. Yuno pulled it back and threw it toward the wall. It flew through the air and hit straight in the middle of our makeshift target and stood there with its tip stuck in the wall.

I gave a sarcastic round of applause to Yuno. I've seen her do this a million times.

"Okay, now your turn." Yuno said. She plucked her knife out of the wall and handed it to Stephanie.

Stephanie gripped the knife in a seemingly uncomfortable position and shotput it toward a target we drew on the wall. It hit the wall about 3 feet away from the target and dropped to the floor with a klink. Yuno and I giggled at her.

"Hey stop laughing!" she yelled, which only made us laugh even harder. "Well I'm sorry that I'm not a 'certified knife thrower' like you guys."

"I'm the only certified knife thrower here. Phoenix is... meh." Yuno joked.

"Excuse me, I happen to know a thing or two." I stood up and grabbed a knife from her.

I planted myself a couple feet away from the target. I pulled it back at my shoulder and launched it towards the center of the target. It ended up landing on the outer ring of our poorly drawn bullseye.

"Amatuer" Yuno scoffed at me.

"Next one goes at you." I joked.

"You'd probably miss me by 10 feet"

"Okay, okay, ladies let's break it up." Stephanie said with her hands up. "Let me try again"

Steph attempted to throw the knife, but was cut off by the SUV coming around. It parked in a slot next to us, and Mat, Mark, and Nate hopped out of the car.

"Hey guys." Nate said, coming out of the car.

"Hey! What'd you guys get?" Yuno said, excited as she walked over to the SUV.

They didn't say anything, but Mat opened the door to reveal the inside of the car. There was nothing. Not a scrap of food or supplies.

"We drove around for hours, and we couldn't find anything..." Mark said.

"Wait, how much food do we have then?" I asked. They all stayed silent, looking at the ground. "I guess that means none, or barely any then."

Mat nodded. Steph walked up to him, "It's ok... just be happy you're alive, and that you all got back ok."

"Thanks Steph." Mat said to her. Steph smiled and they embraced.

"Let's go inside, and eat some of the food we have left, but we have to start rationing now." Mark, and we nodded and all walked inside.

That night we set up a small table and we sat around with our 'feast', "We have 14 cans of beans, 20 packs of crackers, a solid supply of water, about a pound of nut assortments, 2 bags of dried fruit...." Mark went over a list of what food we had left.

"So, if we ration this food..." Mat started while scribbling on a piece of paper, "We should be able to survive a total of 7 days."

"We have a week then, to find food," Nate said.
