Chapter Eleven: Riley

Since Johnny and Ally clearly aren’t fighting anymore, they decided to focus a little more on our “popularity” or whatever. Lizzy and Mace are in on it too, even though they can’t look at each other anymore after the whole party thing.

“So according to my calculations,” Lizzy says in a way that makes her seem ten times more dorky, “On the social ladder, Riley and Zoey are on the same rung; 34.”

Ally sat on Zoey’s couch, a piece of paper in her hand. “Okay, so I think we don’t have to do anything about the first 10, everyone will bad glad to get rid of them.” She says with a smirk. “So that leaves 24, and we can cross out Zach, Mary, Wayne, and Drew. Everyone hates them too.”

Johnny nodded thoughtfully. “So, 20 people?”

“Yep, if we knock them off every day, we’ll be done by the end of the month!” Mace said with a happy grin on his stupid face.

Zoey brushed a curly piece of her hair out of her face and sighed sadly, “I don’t want people to hate me though.”

“They won’t,” Ally assured, “We’ll take care of destroying everyone else.”

Lizzy brought out another sheet of notebook paper, “Alright, let’s decide what we’re going to tell people to get them unpopular.”

Johnny made a face and I realized he really didn’t want to be here. “Hey, let’s get something to eat.” I said to him.

His eyes perked up, “Oh thank god,” I heard him breathe, “Alright girls, we’ll bring you back a pizza. Come on Mace.”

I mentally groaned ad Mace leaped to his feet and followed us out Zoey’s door.

Johnny slapped my back, “I owe you man,” he snorted. “That was torture."

Now that Johnny’s back hanging out with us, I realize how much it sucked without him. Mace is super annoying, to the point where I want to punch him in the face, so having Johnny back was a blessing.

We pulled into the small pizza shop just outside Zoey’s neighborhood. Before we could walk in, however, Johnny stopped us.

“I just realized you haven’t said a single thing the whole day, the hell is wrong with you?” he demands to Mace who stands staring at the ground. Now that I think about, he had been eerily quiet. I wish I would have known I could have enjoyed it better.

                “I-uhm, well,”

I let out an agitated sigh; it’s so obvious isn’t it? I knew Johnny was stupid but not this dumb. “You like Lizzy.”

Both pairs of eyes go large, “How did you know?” Mace gasps.

I roll my eyes again; I live in a world of idiots! Ever since the little incident at the party, you two haven’t been able to even look at each other. If you two didn’t like each other, you wouldn’t have cared and dismissed it as a drunken mistake.” Johnny turns to Mace to hear his rebuttal.

Instead, he blushes ferociously and nods, causing Johnny to burst out laughing.

“That’s freaking hilarious!” he half screams half laughs.

The warm air brushes my face as I stare out at the horizon. “Interesting…” I say menacingly. “The fact that they think they can even try to over throw me is amusing enough but to think that a girl as ugly as Zoey can be queen bee makes me laugh!” I spin on my heel to face the short girl with curly red hair and freckles. “You’ve done well.”

She nods slowly. I reached out to her a few months ago to spy on Ally and Johnny, she agreed as long as I proceed to make her almost as popular as me. Not that I actually would. When I’m done with her, I’ll simply toss her aside.

I mean, seriously, a girl as nerdy and unattractive as Lizzy Baker was almost as preposterous as Zoey becoming popular.
