The weather always seemed to match the city's atmosphere. Gray, always gray, with no glimpse of the sun in the sky. The streets, always crowded, with people bumping into one another as they exchange a timid "sorry" and continue walking.
Jimin couldn't remember the last time the sun shone through the thick clouds. He always walked through the bustling streets, usually dressed very plainly, just to observe the people around him. He glanced at a woman's face as she walked by. He noticed her brows were furrowed, and guessed that she felt stressed out or anxious- about what he couldn't guess. He saw a pair of teenage girls giggling as they walked into a clothing store. Best friends, no doubt.
He stopped observing, and sighed as he sat down on the curb. Even though he had the day off, he still wandered around the city, hoping to memorize every face and every structure.
You see, Jimin was a police officer. A very kind one, of course, but a very well-known one too. He singlehandedly caught some of the most notorious criminals the city was known for, in part due to his outings like this. He was well-respected by the people, and deservedly hated by those he caught. He didn't care though, young delinquents aren't as scary as they seem- one tiny threat and he could make them fidget with a confession. He fiddled around with the strings hanging from his hoodie, hoping to one day be able to rid the city of harm and hoping to finally see some light.
He returned to his apartment about an hour later, hungry from all the walking. He prepared a microwave meal and turned on the TV, scanning the channels for something interesting. Jimin wasn't much into television, since he hardly had the time, but he was interested enough in some geeky sci-fi shows. Nothing was on, so he finally landed on the news and carried his meal over to the couch, where he sat himself down carefully with the food in his lap. The hourly news report began.
"As you can see, many people are ecstatic about the arrest of Min Yoongi, with citizens surrounding the precinct... further details are unknown at the time".
Jimin almost choked on the food in his mouth. Min Yoongi? He'd been trying to catch that bastard for quite some time now. Years, even. At that moment, his phone lit up and began vibrating on the table.
"Hey Jimin, we got Yoongi. Mind coming down?"
"Nope, not at all. I'll be there soon."
He hung up the call and went searching for his uniform. He speedily dressed, trying to find a clean outfit. He glanced at himself in the mirror and ran a hand through his red hair, deciding he looked decent enough. He ran into the kitchen, grabbed his keys, and locked his apartment door.
He couldn't wait to grill Min Yoongi's ass.
When he arrived at the police station, his mouth fell open in shock. The place was an absolute madhouse. News reporters crowded all around the building, with random citizens yelling and attempting to push their way through the crowd, trying to get a glimpse of the action. The crowding was starting to get unbearable, so as a temporary solution, some of the officers were beginning to put up caution tape around the vicinity. His friend, Taemin, even took a siren out of his car and turned it on, yelling at people to get out of the way.
It was actually a quite comical scene. Many of his friends and co-workers picked up on Taemin's humor and began to mimic the siren noises, wrapping caution tape around the cameras to block footage. Jimin laughed loudly, and pushed his way through the crowd, ducking under the caution tape. He stepped through the wide glass doors of the police department building.
Luckily, the inside of the building was about as chaotic as a spa. "Ah, Jimin, perfect timing. Namjoon's almost arrived with Min Yoongi", Officer Jin told him, as he walked up and handed Jimin a coffee. Jin was one of his close friends- they had known each other since Jimin's first day at the police academy. The younger nearly collapsed from the training but Jin carried him back and helped him get in shape, training him day after day. They stayed friends afterwards, Jin even helping Jimin to land a job at the city's police department. Jimin smiled up at Jin. "Finally! We've been waiting too long for this moment!" Jimin said cheerfully, and Jin nodded in agreement. The elder officer turned his attention to reporters near his desk, who had somehow gotten through the door and started going through his personal stuff.
"ALRIGHT EVERYONE, THAT'S IT, TIME TO LEAVE THE BUILDING!" Seokjin yelled, and everyone went silent. Officers began leading people out the doors, and Jin crossed his arms and smiled, a smug expression crossing his face.
"Well alright Jin, I'm kind of afraid to see you around Min Yoongi." Jimin said, surprised and amused at the elder's outburst. Jin laughed.
"Me? I wanna see how you'll react."
Jimin let out a hmph, and took a sip of his drink. Jin had a point. He and Min Yoongi already knew each other, in a manner of speaking. Jimin nearly arrested him multiple times, but somehow he managed to escape Jimin's grasp every damn time, finding new ways to outsmart the detective. This time, though, Min Yoongi wasn't going anywhere. He was finally going to be punished for the crimes he committed. This made Jimin happy, as he sat down at his desk, patiently waiting for the infamous arrival.
