I had to do it, I had to find the answers to my questions and the only way to do that was to go back to the Moore's. I made it up there doorstep and rang the bell with shakey hands. I was fidgeting so much I couldn't stand still.
"Hello," Coraline opened the door slowly with a cautious smile.
"I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?"
"Of course, come in." She said widening the doorway. I walked in, ready for an attack, but nothing ever came. It was just Coraline. "Darian is in his office, you can go in and talk to him," Coraline motioned down the hallway.
I walked and didn't see anyone else, maybe nobody else was here? I knocked on the door at the end of the hall, "Come in,"
I opened the door and saw Darian sitting at a big desk. "Tempest, come in." He said gesturing to the 2 seats in front of his desk.
"I know this may seem a bit out of the blue, but I was wondering if you could answer a few questions?" I asked as politely as I could.
"Sure," He said moving his papers he was working on to the side. He folded his hands on top of his desk, eager to listen.
"So um you said you and your family were vampires," he nodded, "Well could you eplain it to me?"
"As you may have heard from different legends that we are ferious beasts who can turn into bats, I like to think of us as a more civilized species. We aren't ferious, we don't turn into bats, and we don't kill people."
That last one stuck out, "So you don't drink blood?"
"Oh we drink animal blood, but we still have to eat our fruits and vegetables just like humans."
"Can we move on now?" I asked. I kept pictures Jagger eating a baby deer or something, and the most deturbing thing about it was that I found it hot.
"Of course," he said still fully interested in what I had to say.
"You mentioned something about me helping you in some battle?" I questioned causously.
"Vampires and witches aren't the only supernatural creatures on the face of the earth. There are Werewolves, Fae, Necromancers, Shape shifters, Demons, dragons, ghosts and much more. Do you think we all get along together? We'd be kidding ourselves if we said that," He said it like it was something I should have known.
"So where do I come in?" I asked.
"Having a war against other supernaturals is pointless because everyones strength's are equal if they are used strategically, but throw a witch into the mix and it's a whole other game."
"Well come on, there has to be other witches out there, I can't be the only one." I said.
"Here's a short history lesson for you," He said while getting up from his chair and slowly walking to the large book case that took up a whole wall, "Long, long ago in 1692 there was a thing called "The Salem Witch Trials." Are you familiar with what that was?" He asked me while leafing through an old book.
"Wasn't it like a witch hunt?" I asked not exactly sure what it was.
"Precisely," He said placing the book in front of me. There was a page opened with a rough sketch of what looked like a few women hanging from wooden poles by their necks while people held torches at their feet. it looked horrible, the girls faces contorted in pain.
"All Salem communities decided that they wanted to banish the existence of witchcraft. It was a mad hunt, people went on rages through homes burning anything that might be the least bit like witchcraft. It was a tragic time that people believed was the first break in theocracy. But the part of the storey that nobody knows is that 7 of the most powerful witches managed to peer into the future and see ahead of time what was to happen. They managed to escape just as the trials began to start, taking with them all they could as they went into hiding." He explained.
I was completely blown away at what he just told me. I processed the new information as the shock started to wear off. This was supposed to answer my questions, not create new ones.
"So are you trying to tell me that I'm related to one of those 7 witches?" I asked.
"Yes," He took the book away from in front of me and put it back on the shelf.
"So wouldn't the witches, like, expand the family kind of thing?" I asked awkwardly.
"Yes, they have been trying. But then there's the matter of the hunters." He said trailing off. I was waiting for him to explain. "The hunters started out as a group of people so determind to kill off witches that they got the help of one to make them much more powerful. It soon expanded, the group finding out about other supernatural creatures. The power was passed down through generations, hunting witches until near extinction."
"And these are the people that killed my mother?" I asked through the lump in my throat. I would not cry in front of him.
"Yes, it's the only logical answer." He admitted.
I waited a moment, thinking over all this information until I came to a conclusion.
"You're crazy," I whispered.
"Pardon me," He called after me as I walked briskly down the hall to the front door.
"I said you're crazy. If anything I should be protecting myself from these... these... hunters or whatever." I yelled throwing my hands in the air. The family started to gather around me, but this time I wasn't scared. If what he told me was true, and I was the most powerful of all the supernatural creatures. Then they couldn't hurt me. They said it themselves, they couldn't kill me even if they wanted to. I was the key to winning this war.
I took a long breath and stormed out of the house heading home. For the first time in my life, I felt powerful, like I could take on the world. I had the blood of one of the seven witches pumping through my veins, nothing could hurt me.
{A/N Wow! This chapter was really fun to write. I looked up lots of info about the salem witch trials to try to make this as accurate as possible.}
