Telling my dad that I was going to the shcool dance with Jagger took a lot of explaining. But after I told dad that it was only because I didn't want to go with Carter he lossened up a little. He knew about Carter and mines awkward relationship as friends and Carter being more than friends which was why dad hadn't always like the sleepovers.
"Monkey, kids like him are bad news. This is a one time thing right?" Dad clarified again.
"Never will I ever talk to him ever again," I repeated back. He'd given me the most awkward talk a few hours ago about not giving into any sexual desires I might have through the night with Jagger, and if there was any drinking that I'd call him. I did not want a repeat of that conversation.
The doorbell rang and Dad went to answer it while I stood in the bathroom smoothing my hair and dress. I didn't know why I was so scared and fidgety, it wasn't like it was a real date. Jagger is just one of the many things I have to do to protect Carter from himself.
I heard Jagger's voice and my heart did a little fluttery thing in my chest. I gave myself one last look and walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs. His eyes widened at my arrival. I was wearing a pinky peach coloured sundress with a tight bodice and flowy bottom. I had to compromise with my dad considering I wanted to wear jeans and one of his tops, so I was wearing one of Dad's fancy dress shirts undone so you could still see the dress and I could feel comfortable, although I would have preferred pants.
My mahogany hair was in some fancy updo that I looked up how to do on youtube, don't ask me how I did it, all I know is it won't be hapenning again.
"Do I look okay?" I asked nervously playing with the sleeve of the shirt.
"You look..." But before Jagger could finish dad was glaring at him, "Beautiful." Jagger finished.
"Good answer," Dad said. "Okay simple rules to follow for tonight, you bring her home by 11. If there is even one hair out of place on her pretty little head you will be in trouble."
Even though I knew Jagger could outrun dad any day and that he was a vampire that could easily kill him, Jagger still looked a little nervous. But he didn't let it slip out in front of dad, "Yes sir, your daughter is in safe hands."
We started to turn around so we could leave, but that's when Dad brought out the camra. "I'm not letting my baby girl leave without some pictures."
Jagger seemed slightly annoyed but possed with me anyways. After the pictures were over I quickly ushered Jagger out before Dad made us do anything else.
"I'm sorry about him," I said to Jagger when we were in the car.
"It's fine, he was just being protective," Jagger said brushing off my apology.
We walked into the dance and Jagger's phone chimed. He read the illuminated screen and frowned. "Everything okay?" I asked.
"Let's go find Avon," He said while walking around the side of the dance floor over to the snack table. I saw her standing there and we approached. They didn't talk, they just had one of their silent conversations.
"What are you doing?" I asked before I could stop myself. I felt like the odd one out. Jagger's head snapped in my direction and Avon gave me a glare before walking away. "What?" I asked.
"Let's dance," He changed the subject, I'd let it slip for now but I was asking him later.
It was maybe a half hour later when his phone started to ring. He left me without even telling me where he was going. He bursted out the gym doors and into the hallway where there where couples making out and girls crying. He didn't stop and kept heading towards a back exit down an empty hallway.
"Jagger!" I called as I tried to keep up with his fast pace.
He stopped and said, "Go back into the gym, don't leave unless one of us comes to get you."
"What's going on?"
"I'm taking care of it, just make sure you stay in the gym," He almost yelled. I cringed back and walked back to the gym while playing with the sleeves of my shirt. I suddenly felt very self concious as I went back into the gym alone, so I buttoned up my shirt all the way to my neck.
I was going to go find Carter, but then I saw him dancing with Sarah. It was a slow song and they looked like they were having fun, I couldn't interupt them for my own stupid reasons.
I then felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Jagger. "Is everything alright?" I asked when we were in the hall. He didn't even turn to awknowledge me. This was so unlike him, maybe he was just angry about something.
We went outside into the crisp air, his hand locking around my arm roughly. "Jagger, you're hurting me." I complained trying to get out of his grasp but it only tightened.
We walked over to the forest that started at the back of the school. "Your car's over there!" I said looking back at the parking lot where his car was.
We got in about 10 feet before we heard rustling to our left. He started running, draggin me along in a vise grip. If we kept going out this way we'd be out of town.
"Jagger!" I yelled as I face planted onto the ground. He didn't stop, he pulled. Leaves were going up my dress and I'd have grass stains on my knees. "You're an ass!" I yelled while putting him off his balance, not enough to seriously harm him, but so he'd let go.
He began glow and when the light dimmed he wasn't Jagger anymore, he wasn't even a he, it was a she with pointy ears and pixie style black hair.
"Jagger!" I screamed as I started backing up. Her eyes flashed like a snake and she reached out to grab me, while backing up I tripped over a root and fell on my butt. I load growl erupted from behind her and a large wolf tackled her to the ground. It was the same one from the other day with the curious eyes. Blood spurted from a vein in the girls body.
I was to terrified stick around to see what happened next so I took off running. I didn't know which way was back to school, and all I could do was keep running. Some oddly shaped figure jumped out of the tree in front of me and I screamed before heading in a drifferent direction. I could hear some sort of snorting noise the thing made as it followed me.
All this running around was making me tired, I was weasing for Gods sake. My blood was pounding in my ears so I couldn't tell if the thing was still following me, but I couldn't continue any longer. I stopped and leaned against a tree while I took in huge breaths of air. "Come here witch," A voice said. It was inside my head. The brown creature had scales running up it's back, had a tail, and really sharp long fangs. I'd never seen anything like this before. I started to tremble, to scared to move as it stumbled towards me.
"Tempest?" A little girl said, it was Cleo. What the heck was she doing out here? She leveled her gaze with the monster and they began to charge at eachother. I couldn't let Cleo get hurt so I flung my arm in the direction of the monster and the ground quickly opened up underneath him.
A wild wind picked up and began dragging leaves, and grass towards the space in the ground, along with the monster. But the downside was Cleo and I were also being pulled to it. I held on to a tree branch and Cleo held on to another. We heard a screech and the monster went into the hole, it then closed up taking the wind with it.
"We have to go," Cleo said in a soft voice as she pulled me along. I was in complete shock, she could have been dragging me to Canada and I wouldn't have realized it.
"Cleo!"
I turned in the direction of the voices calling for Cleo and saw the whole Moore's family come out.
Jagger! Was it really Jagger? I couldn't tell.
"I thought I told you to wait in the gym," Yup, it was the real Jagger. Suddenly I became very tired, but I had to make it to Jagger, I felt like as long as he was with me I was safe as odd as that sounded. I stumbled towards Jagger and flopped into his arms, putting all my weight on him.
"It's really you," I said through the tears. The reality of what just happened came crashing down on me causing me to have an emotional breaking down. "It was you and then it wasn't... and I don't know what just happened..." I sucked in deep breaths.
"Shape shifter," I heard someone say behind me as I burried my face in Jagger's shirt. I didn't even care anymore, I just wanted to go home.
