"Hey dad it's me, I just wanted to let you know that I'm staying overnight at Jane's. See you tomorrow. Love you!" I took the phone away from my ear and ended the call. I was so tired that I could hardly stand up without falling down, my eyes were half closed, and as an added bonus I had Jagger standing right behind me keeping me balance.
"Ready for bed witch," He asked playfully, still fully awake. I've realized that since I met him that he didn't need much sleep to function, but I wasn't sure if that was a Vampire thing or Jagger thing.
"Don't call me that." I mumbled and put all my weight onto Jagger, too tired to argue and stand at the same time. It was nice that I could get some sleep tonight, I'm always paranoid when I'm sleeping at my house, even with the Moore's standing guard.
Jagger swung me up bridal style and carried me towards the stairs. "Jagger, we have a cot set up in Avon's room for her." Darian said as he passed by. I wasn't sure what his expression was but by the tone of his voice he wasn't happy.
"She's sleeping in my bed." Jagger replied.
"Honey do you need the cot?" That was Coraline's not so subtle way of asking if we were going to be sleeping together.
Jagger didn't reply and went to his room instead, shutting the door behind him. If dad saw me now about to get in bed with a boy he'd flip, girls have to keep some things to themselves.
Jagger got me under the covers and then went around to the other side. The zip of his jeans and rustle of his shirt made me stop and analyze what I was doing. I was getting into bed with a very hot but very dangerous Vampire, and strangely enough it wasn't the fangs I was worried about. He gave me feelings I didn't want to deal with, that's what my biggest fear was at the moment.
He slid in behind me, his body molding to mine from behind. "Relax," His warm breath on my ear made me shiver, which in turn made the bed vibrate - stupid powers.
"You like that?" He whispered again except his voice was huskier. I was afraid to speak, to breath even. "Can I tell you something?" I nodded, "I like you, a lot more than I should. And realizing how much I couldn't help you today really hit me. Demons could drag you to hell, damn even a necromancer can have spirits pull me underground. I don't ever want to lose you again."
He let out a shaky breath and pressed his lips to the shell of my ear. After a couple minutes of silence he began to talk again, "I just kind of bared my soul to you. Could you maybe say something?"
"What do you want me to say?"
"Anything," He sounded exasperated. Feeling frustrated with him I turned in his arms until we were face to face. "What should I say? That I like you too and that everything I'm feeling for you is scary as hell!" I shout whispered.
"Anything is better than nothing!" He pulled me flush against him, our lips pressed against each other but neither of us kissed.
"Are you going to kiss me or am I going to have to drag your lips on mine?" I asked right before his mouth moved over mine in an angry, sloppy, romantic, kiss.
I fisted my hands in his hair, letting all the anger I had for him flow through our crashing lips. He was a jerk to me, a total jerk who could say some pretty romantic things.
His lips traveled down my neck and stopped to suck on top of my pounding vein. It kind if scared me that he was this close to sucking my blood, but I trusted him.
"Tempest." He breathed between our moving mouths.
"Jagger." I gasped as I felt his fingers rub against my stomach.
"No," He tore his lips from mine and we both breathed heavily, our foreheads touching. I wasn't sure why he'd stopped, but when I looked into his eyes I could tell he was having an internal battle with himself.
