33.

Thorne

I whirred away, flying past crowds of people, buildings, traffic. I had to get away from that traitor before I did something foolish, like strangle her.

Nameless was in serious trouble! And Lidia actually denied me what information she had. Did she not understand what harm she was causing her friend by remaining secretive? Was she really that blind? A Demon had Nameless for God's sakes!

I had to let Father know that Lidia was not cooperating. I pushed into my Psyche, connecting my mind to his.

"Father, Lidia will not discuss her information on Nameless' kidnapping with me. What should I do next, arrest her?"

Father's irritated voice came into my mind instantly, "What shall I do with that girl? She cannot keep her title as Seeker; this is too treacherous an act to be forgiven."

"Then I should arrest her?"

"No, she may still lead us to Nameless if we do not stir any sort of suspicion that we're on to her. Let her go a ways on her own, but do keep an eye on her. She has a bond with the girl, it may carry her directly to where the Telem is keeping her."

"Yes Father," I was about to break off connection when Father spoke again.

"And Thorne?"

"Yes Father?"

"You too have a bond with the girl. Try to use it as a means of locating her."

I grinded my teeth together, somehow feeling guilty using a bond Nameless and I had as a means to drag her back to Purgatory to be used for war. But she was in danger, and she would at least be on the side of good again, in safe hands. This war may even be prevented if we got her back, and then things could go back to normal. She and I could finish our walk to the lake. "Yes Father, I will." I agreed.

"I will send Stone to monitor Lidia's movement as well. It will take him some time to cross the world, but he will be with you soon. Until then, keep your senses alert."

My inner groans on how awful it would be to have volatile Stone flanking us nearly pushed into our connection, but I pulled them back in time, instead answering with a steady, "Yes Father, I will update you upon his arrival."

The connection broke and I continued my pace forward. Lidia was a few kilometers back from me. I swerved right, picking up speed, giving her some space as Father had ordered. She had better not cost Nameless any pain with her shenanigans.

"Thorne!" Father's voice broke into my mind again, startling me. "She's been spotted! One of the Between have sighted her!"

All I could think about was the nasty creature that had her. A Telem. Just the name sent a shiver of hatred down my spine. Hatred that had been carved into my being centuries ago by my fallen ancestors. I'd get Nameless back, keep her safe away from anyone else that wished her harm and complete Aadi Seraphim's vow. I fingered the silver dagger at my side. "Where is it keeping her?"

The Demon was mine.
