Short Chapter and also the last :(

It's been a long journey to get to where I am right now.
I'm lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by police asking questions.
What's your name? How old am I? And most importantly, who is the boy you were with?
I looked over at Cameron in the bed beside mine. He had heart monitors placed over his chest and his breathing was very irregular.
It was all my fault that he's like this.
The nurses don't know if he'll make it. They said "they're doing everything they can". But I guess everything isn't enough sometimes.
The knife in the back of his neck just missed his spine, so luckily he won't be paralyzed. Unfortunately though, he lost so much blood. Seeing your loved ones suffer is a terrible feeling.
I reached across my bed and held his hand in mine. It was colder than usual, but still felt so familiar to hold.
I returned my attention the police man, Officer Colin, I believe his name was.
"We caught the man who kidnapped you. He's gonna be in jail for a long, long time." I wanted to smile at this, but I couldn't. I couldn't smile, until Cameron was awake, "I'm gonna get the officers out of the room for a little. You should rest." The officer gave me a kind smile, and escorted everyone out of the room.
Beeping monitors, the noise of scuffling outside, and my heart racing.
That's all I could hear right now.
I rubbed my thumb against Cameron's hand. Why couldn't I be the one who got injured worse? I only suffered from a hurt back, a broken nose, and a sprained ankle.
My eyes stared intently at Cameron. He seemed like he was already dead. His face was as white as snow, and his heartbeats were only going every few seconds.
"Cameron, I'm so sorry," I bit my lip to stop the quivering in my chin, "you shouldn't have came after me...please stay alive. I need you. You're the only person whose genuinely cared about me for so long. Please fight for me. Don't die, you can't leave me," I got up from my bed and walked towards him carefully, "I know you're in pain, but you can't go. You're not ready to die, it's not your time," I kissed his hand gently, "I love you so much. If you...if you die, I'll never forget you, I promise. You're always in my heart," I kissed his cheek, and then his lips, "I'm just gonna miss you a lot...I'm gonna-"
"Baby...I'm not going anywhere." I jumped back from his bed, and Cameron was staring at me. Even though he still looked super weak, he was awake and talking. And that's when I just couldn't stop crying...happy tears though.
"Nurse! Come in here please! You're alive! Oh my god!" I started kissing his face gently and he let out a small laugh.
"I told you everything would be ok."

A few hours went by and Cameron wasn't in the best conditions, but he was improving for sure. He could talk for the most part, and was beginning to eat a little. We both split a jello cup, which obviously wasn't the best, but it was ok.
Officer Colin came back in to question Cameron and I one more time.
"So can you repeat both your names?" He asked, looking more towards me, since Cameron was more occupied with the cartoons on TV.
"I'm Blaise Randall, and that's Cameron Johnson." Officer Colin scribbled our names down on his notebook.
"What's your kidnappers name?" I shrugged my shoulders, I still didn't even know who he was, "and how long ago were you abducted?"
"Four years."
"So your the Blaise Randall case that's been ongoing for four years? We were about to close that case as you being dead, but you're alive."
"She's a fighter." Cameron chimed in, smiling at me.
"I thought you closed that case ages ago." I laughed, shaking my head.
"No, we had to get more evidence before we could close it. You're just the evidence we needed to settle it," he patted my leg on the bed.
"Hey, watch your hands, Officer. That's my girlfriend." Cameron remarked, somewhat joking.
"Sorry, bud." Officer Colin held his hands up to surrender, as he laughed, "I think I asked everything I had to. It was great to meet you both." He waved at us before exiting the room.
"We survived." I said to Cameron, who finally took his attention of the TV screen.
"I know," Cameron replied, "you don't have to be my runaway love anymore. You're staying right by my side."
He was right. I didn't have to runaway from anyone or be afraid. I could finally live in peace.
I may have started off as a runaway love, but it's time to end that story.
