"Miranda, honey, come here!" Mama yells from the living room of our Texas home.
I jog down the stars and I stop in front of my mom. "Yes?"
"What have you been doing? I've been calling for you for an hour." Mama scolds.
"Looking for love online." I shrug.
"Maybe you'll find it in La Push." Mama winks.
"La... Wait what? We're moving!" I shout.
She chuckles. "I got a promotion. I am a surgeon in the Rez hospital."
I smile. "When do we leave?"
"Tomorrow, go ahead and begin packing." Mama says softly.
I go back up to my room and I get out a couple duffle bags. We are moving from Houston, Texas to La Push, Washington. I'm so excited. Mama says we are flying. This will be fun. I have never been in an airplane before.
I begin with my clothes first. I am ready to be out of here. Maybe mama is right, maybe I will find love in La Push. We will be living in a reservation. I am beyond excited about the move.
I pack up some of my shoes too before I start to stink of sweat. I go to the bathroom connected to my room. My father was a rich man. When he passed away two years ago, he left us all of his money. I wonder what house mama bought in Washington.....
I start the hot water before I step under. I wash my hair and then my body. Once I smell better, I shut the water off and step out. I dry off and out my gray sweat pants and a black tank top on. I go to my room and I finish packing. I lay an outfit for tomorrow out before going to the kitchen.
I cook supper tonight. I make baked chicken, and some mashed potatoes. Mama thanks me with a kiss on the forehead before she digs right in. I sit down across from her and I begin to eat as well.
"That was good, Miranda." Mama smiles. "Thanks. Go get some rest, the movers will be here early. They are flying by the furniture on a private plate."
I nod and I wash up the dishes. I go to my room and lock the door behind me. I climb into my comfy bed and I pull the fuzzy wolf blanket over me before falling off to sleep.
