More Than That
Chapter Six
Rosie's povMy alarm clock went off at 5:30, just like every other morning. I hit snooze a couple times, then drag myself out of bed to get ready for the day.
I put on some makeup, tried to tackle my wavy, knotted hair, and put on some perfume.
Next, I put on my school uniform and then I went downstairs to get some breakfast. I fixed myself scrambled eggs with an apple and by the time I was finished eating, it was time to walk to school.I put my earbuds in while I walked down the pavement, listening to Twenty-One Pilots, my favorite. I kick a pebble as I walk, keeping me occupied. Before I know it, I'm at school, putting my bag away in my locker and grabbing my books with my friend Leila at my side.
"Do you think we'll have homework in maths?" Leila asks me as I shut my locker.
"More than likely, its Mrs. Bernstein after all." I say. Mrs. Bernstein always gives out too much homework.•••
It's lunchtime now, and I was seated at my regular table with my regular friends; Ellie, Leila, Karly, Cameron, Joshua, Alphie, and Liam.
Cameron had been flirting with me a lot lately, so it didn't surprise me when he asked me if I wanted to go with him to the bakery after school. I said sure because Cameron is such a sweetheart and I couldn't say no.•••
I had just met Cameron at my locker so that we could walk to the bakery together.
"Hey Rosie." He said as he walked up to me.
"Hey Cam." I responded.
"I'm so glad it's Friday, you have no idea." He says as we start walking out the school.
"I'm glad it's Friday too. More time to binge Netflix." I point out and Cameron laughed.
"Don't you have a football tournament this weekend?" Cameron asks.
"Yeah, how'd you know?" I ask.
"Ellie told me." He explains.
"Ah. Makes sense." I respond.
"So... mind if I come watch?" He asks.
"Um... sure!" I burst out. I really didn't want him to come, but it was too late now.For the rest of our walk to the bakery, we just talk small talk about the weather and homework, boring stuff like that.
When we enter the bakery, we both order a biscuit with a glass of chocolate milk because it is the cheapest option. We aren't rich, ya know.We sit down at a booth in the back and then Cameron just stares into my eyes for a while, to be honest I'm really uncomfortable. Cameron used to be such a good friend before he started liking me, now it's just awkward. Luckily, Brennan saved the day by texting me.
"Who's that?" Cameron asks.
"It's my mum." I lie. "I've got to go, see you tomorrow at the game." I smile as I get out the booth.I am so relived to be out of there. If only Cameron wasn't going to my game tomorrow. Ughhhhhhh
