"You what!"
I am currently walking to Transfiguration with Ellie, Jade and Leta. After I found Newt in the forest, I came here to talk about my sudden 'feelings' about him. Ellie thinks it's cute and believes that we should break out of the 'friend zone'.
Jade, however, disagrees with it completely.
"You and Newt are just good friends nothing more, nothing less. It should stay that way."
"You and Newt would be adorable. I think it works perfectly."
They keep going on like this for ages it seems. I turn to Leta.
"What do you think?"
"Huh?"
She must have zoned out.
"About me and Newt!"
"Oh. I think that, if you want to be with Newt then go for it. If you don't, so be it. I don't mind. It doesn't concern me. It's your choice and only yours."
I smile. Leta always knows what to say. I think about me and Newt being together. I like the idea but I don't know what Newt would think.
"Guys. GUYS!"
Ellie and Jade stop arguing and turn to me.
"I've made a decision. I'd like to be with Newt-"
"Yes!" Says Ellie.
Jade huffs.
"I'm not finished."
A smile appears on Jade's face.
"I'd like to be with Newt but, I'm not going to let on about my feelings yet."
"Yes!"
Jade punches the air triumphantly. Ellie rolls her eyes.
"I say you should tell Newt about your feelings." She mumbles.
"It's my decision Ellie, not yours." I reply.
Leta smiles. She's probably happy that I took her advice. I know I am.
"So, when are you going to tell Newt about your feelings?" Asks Ellie.
I haven't thought about this. I shrug my shoulders guiltily.
"I don't know."
"Tell him when he seems comfortable with the idea of you being together." Says Jade.
"You're taking interest in me being with Newt?"
"Yeah. It's your decision and I should respect it."
I smile. My friends are the best. I arrive at Transfiguration with a spring in my step. Little did I know it would soon disappear.
