Birdsongs and the murmur of the waves slowly pulled Mathias from sleep. He opened his eyes and saw the sun already high in the sky, amidst a clear sky with a few white clouds scattered. Mathias rubbed his face, he was already feeling a bit better than yesterday and his leg injury had finally stopped to make him suffer even if it was far from being completely healed. But turning his head to the left, he noticed that Elizabeth was no longer here. Panicked, Mathias gets up quickly and looks at all sides to try to see her, but nothing, he is alone on the beach.
(Mathias): "Elizabeth! Elizabeth! Where are you?"
He called several times but no answer, only the wind blowing gently. Very worried and without wasting time, Mathias turn towards the forest to look for. In his mind, he imagined the worst but was trying to stay calm not to sink into utter paranoia. Mathias had no weapon and without it, he was defenseless against the guards. Because yes, after the escape, and the disappearance of his daughter, Zachary Comstock surely sent more than half of the police to investigate, besides this monstrous giant bird that seems to have a strong and very mysterious link with Elizabeth.
While walking, Mathias attention is suddenly drawn to the sound of a waterfall nearby, and also, of hums. A female voice that he recognizes immediately. Mathias goes to the source of the noise, and discarding thickets, arrives in a small blank space in the middle of the forest, where is a source of water fed by a little waterfall. On a rock, he even sees the clothes of the young woman. Then, turning his gaze to the source, he saw Elizabeth near the waterfall, humming a little tune, in moistening her bare shoulders. She did not notice the presence of Mathias, but suddenly she looks up at him. Elizabeth, surprised at first, hides her breast with her arms. Mathias, blushing with shame to have seen the breast of the young woman, turns quickly and goes even sit behind the rock.
(Mathias): "I .... I'm really sorry. I didn't wanted to disturb you."
(Elizabeth): "Next time, announce your coming."
Mathias waited, sitting behind the rock, while Elizabeth, after washing in the cascade out of the water to dry her body and her hair under the pleasant and shining rays of the morning sun. She handed her long blue dress, black boots, and having put her silver-gray strapless corset dotted with small black stripes, Elizabeth turned to Mathias, always sitting, back to her.
(Elizabeth): "Mr Booker, uh, I mean Mathias, could you help me tie the straps of my corset, please?" she asked politely.
First, Mathias blushed hearing this, but willingly agrees to help. He gets up and saw the young woman, beautiful and radiant as always, in the sun, sitting on a small rock, and wait, smiling and watching the horizon. Mathias stood behind her and looked up towards the top of her back, naked, and below, small strips running along the corset. The young man begins to tie the strings together and unintentionally a finger touches the skin of Elizabeth, but she did not seem to care. Her skin was very soft, Mathias could feel it. As he continues, he decided to continue to question the girl about a thing he wants to know.
(Mathias): "Answer me honestly, Elizabeth. The Prophet Comstock is your father, so why have you helped me to escape him?"
(Elizabeth): "I love my father, but I do not approve his methods. No matter our skin color, our origins or religion. Everyone deserves a chance to have a beautiful and good life. My father told me that all people from the Sodom Below were heartless demons, but by seeing what you did at the raffle, I discovered he was wrong."
This was one of the wisest things and meant that Mathias heard in his life, and he fully agreed with the reasoning of Elizabeth.
(Mathias): "And why would you absolutely get away from your father and the place where you were born?"
