Chapter 7: Chase in the Clouds

Elizabeth runs in the lead, as quickly as she can, followed by Mathias, who sometimes cast a glance over his shoulder to watch the progress of men who pursue them. Weapon in hand, Mathias shoots somewhat randomly, and manages to touch a policeman in the leg, which collapses to the ground, screaming in pain, a trickle of blood running down his leg. In this attack, the other officers are also beginning to fire their weapons in the crowd, which began to scatter, screaming from all sides. Some passersby panicked, threw themselves behind the pits to take cover. A mother catches her two children frightened by the hands and fled with them in an alley. The bullets of pistols and rifles flying like rockets and graze Mathias. Elizabeth felt a bullet passing close to her head. A little panicked, the young soldier shoots twice more, but soon realizes that his gun is out of ammo. Noticing this, and while continuing to run, Elizabeth looks everywhere around her and suddenly saw a vendor of gene tonics. An idea came to her. Under the slightly puzzled gaze of Mathias, she grabs a bottle of red toned, shaped like a devil.

(Elizabeth): "The devil's kiss? Perfect ...... MATHIAS! DRINK THAT!"

She throws the bottle, that Mathias catches in extremis in the palm of his hand with an even more astonished look.

(Mathias): "Do you really think it's time to drink, seriously?"

(Elizabeth): "Trust me!" she insists, still running.

Mathias, having no better option, prays in his head while running, remove the cap and after a deep breath, drinks the contents of the bottle. The liquid had a very strong and spicy taste. In the mouth, Mathias felt like to drink molten lava. Throat on fire and feeling a very strange sensation running through his veins, Mathias is paralyzed and holding his throat, eyes bloodshot and red-faced, trying to breathe under the worried gaze of Elizabeth.

(Mathias): "Holy shit!! My .... My intestines are on fire!! Looks like I'm burning!"

Suddenly, Mathias hands are surrounded by flames, and seeing that, the young man starts screaming, believing burn alive, but stops soon to panic in finding, he feels no pain and his hands not burn. Elizabeth smiled, relieved, but the cries of the police quickly back her to reality. Mathias is however too busy, looking with amazement his hands in fire.

(Elizabeth): "MATHIAS!!" she yelled, pointing her finger towards the group of officers.

Mathias turned to see them, and seeing his hands, a sadistic smile appears on his face, animated by an idea. In a strong gesture, he throws flames on the wooden bridge a few meters in front of him, and within seconds, a flame barrier appears, blocking the policemen, terrified by the appearance of this wall of fire. Very surprised by what he managed to do with this form of magic, Mathias is speechless, but was quickly brought back to reality by the feel of the soft hand of Elizabeth, aggripant his wrist.

(Elizabeth): "Come on, we must not stop there!"

(Mathias): "But this thing you made me drink .... What the ..."

(Elizabeth): "I'll explain you later. For now, run."

But when they start running again to move away from the wall of fire and police blocked behind, one of the men, seeing their targets escape, turns and yells something.

(Police Officer): "Bring the Fireman here, now!"

Meanwhile, Mathias and Elizabeth arrive at the end of a pier, and they see an airship on the ground, only held by a thick rope tied to a pole.

(Mathias): "Our ticket for Paris! Let's go!"

They arrived without really difficult to the gates of the airship, that Elizabeth is quick to open and enters first inside. But when Mathias is about to enter, a blast noise behind, attracts his attention. A menacing figure arrives in the smoke and without problems, crosses the wall of fire by passing through it. This silhouette is like a man, but in a combination similar to a large diver, red and gray iron, covered with pipes. His gloved hands are surrounded by flames, swirling rapidly around his palms. The police have strayed from his path, with almost intimidated looks. The nightmarish aspect of this fire diver gave chills to Mathias and Elizabeth, seeing him by the glass of the airship, is also terrified.
