It was 8:40am when we all filed into our english class. The boys were in the corner being rowdy as usual, and the girls? They were gossiping about who was taking who to prom this coming Friday.

I on the other hand just roll my eyes and sling my bag onto the wooden desk, sitting down right after.

I never understood why prom was such a big deal anyways? It's just a lame fancy dinner.

As I was about to pull out my phone from my pocket, I overheard one of the girls snicker about how no one was going to take me to prom. I lick my dry lips, pulling up my middle finger and giving her an I don't give a shit look.

"Okay class! Everyone to their seats!" My teacher shouts, pacing into the classroom and placing her coffee down onto the desk, watching as everyone shuffle to their seats.
Ms. Bustier drops her glasses onto the bridge of her nose and clears her throat, "now, I know you are all very excited for prom this Friday, but don't forget you have that paper on Genetics due on Monday!!"

We all groan, flipping our textbooks to the chapter on Genetics and waiting for her lecture to begin.

By the end of the day, I learned that Denis and Allison were going together (A/N: ya boi that's me and my other boo), Selena and Abel were going together, and Scott and Kayla were going together. There was so much hype around prom that I almost wanted to throw myself off a balcony.

From the corner of my eye, I see my best friend, Y/F/N, running towards me with a grin spread across her face.

"Y/N! Y/N!" She calls over to me, out of breath, "I overheard that Shawn is going to ask you to prom!!"
I almost choke on my water, "what?!" I cough, "where the hell did you hear that?" I say, placing my hands onto her shoulders.

She grabs my bottle and takes a sip of my water, "Shawn was talking about it with his friends, and I overheard!"
I lean onto my locker, "overheard ey?" I raise an eyebrow, "knowing you, you were probably purposely eavesdropping on their conversation." She looks at me sheepishly, "maybe.. but c'mon Y/N, it's Shawn for the love of Pete!"

I sigh, "but my original plan was not to go," and she just slaps me, rather hard I might add.
"Are you out of your mind?!" She scowls, "this is the biggest night for seniors, you are obligated to go!"

I huff and cross my arms, "fine, but don't expect me to enjoy it."
Y/F/N jumps up and down, squealing as she pulls me out of the school and  towards my car to "go dress shopping."

A/N: I'm making this in three parts so next part will be a lot more interesting 🤓 anyways, I hope you guys kinda liked the beginning lol stay tuned !!
