Today has been long awaited. We were finally graduating high school. There was no doubt I'd eventually miss this place, but I was glad to be done and over with it.

I glance into the mirror, admiring myself as I twirl in my graduation gown, my heels clicking on the wooden planks of my bedroom floor.

"Y/N! We have to go!" I hear my mom call from downstairs.
"Coming!" I reply, taking one last glance before grabbing my cap and making my way downstairs.
Just as I reach the bottom of the stairs, there's a knock on the door.
I move towards it and open it, revealing a very handsome Shawn, dressed in his very own graduation gown.

"What's cookin' good lookin'?" I gush, causing Shawn to laugh.
"That's you, my dear." He winks, taking ahold of my hand and twirling me around.
Shawn pulls me into his side, my parents holding the camera up and snapping several photos.

"Okay okay, enough photos mom." I laugh lightly, pushing Shawn lightly out the door as we make our way towards the car.

-

To our luck, Shawn and I were chosen as valedictorians this year, so we got to sit next to each other at the very front.

"Good evening students, parents, and faculty members," the principal greets, "tonight we are gathered here to celebrate the great accomplishments of each and every student in this graduating class, so can we give them all a round of applause!"

The crowd erupts in cheers as the spotlight beams down onto the class. I turn to Shawn, and he smiles down at me, the corners of my mouth instantly curling up into a grin as we waited for the crowd to settle down.

"Quite the crowd we have tonight," the principal jokes, clearing his throat as he makes his way to the podium.
"We shall begin the the evening with the diplomas, so with that being said, here we go!" And with that, soft music begins to play.

-

"Denis Kopotun."
Shawn begins to holler, "Denisssss my boyyyy!" I laugh at his actions, shaking my head as we watch Denis make his way across the stage.

"Shawn Mendes."
Now I hollered, clapping my hands excitedly as Shawn shook hands with the principal, grabbed his diploma, and walked off.

"Y/N Y/L/N." I smile nervously, beginning to walk up the staircase and onto the stage, my smile growing wider as I approached the podium. I take ahold of my diploma and shake the principal's hand, my eyes wandering off into the crowd and meeting Shawn's.
He throws me a thumbs up, and I grin. I walk off the stage and find my spot once again.

-

"That's the last of them!" The principal laughs lightly, "and now, could each grad please rise and face the audience?"
We all stand, our chairs creaking as we take a 180 degree turn and face our parents.
"Now, grads please take your tassel and move it to the left."
I take a deep breath, watching as everyone swiftly moves their tassels along with my own.
"You're officially done with high school, congratulations to the class of 20__!!" (A/N: you may insert your grad year since we all graduated in different years hehe)

The grads roar, each one of us removing our caps and throwing it into the air as we celebrate our milestone.
Shawn snakes his arm around my waist, twirling me so I am facing him. Without hesitation, he dips his head down and kisses me passionately.

Goodbye high school, hello reality.

A/N: hope you guys liked it!! I can't believe how fast the year went by. I graduated a year ago already DAMN time sure flies. I lowkey miss it. Everything was easier in high school.

But I also do enjoy the adult life I suppose. For the wrong reasons though hehehe
Anyways, thanks for reading like always !! <333

Love you all xoxo
