"The stranger's" necklace (leather tag replaced with dog tag)^
I stepped outside to find that this town kept getting more interesting. It seemed as if they all came alive at night. The streets were lit not by a light post here or there but by a string of lights running just beneath the telephone wires to each telephone pole. Thouth there were an enormous amount of people out for such a small town there were no cars around. Everyone has flooded the streets and were dancing to a song being played by a band who was situated up on someone's porch. The dance in of itself was mystifying. It seemed based on a salsa but everybody danced as a group moving smoothly with the wild, fast music. Within seconds of capturing this sight I knew that I could dance through this blind folded. The cheerful voices rang out with laughter and gossip being chartered among the crowd.
I could not stand it anymore as I looked upon the joyous celebration. The temptation overwhelmed me and I made my way over to join the wild dance. As I stepped into the circle moving my hips seductively and continued on to each formation it felt like coming home my heart felt high on the adrenaline rush caused by the music and noisy dance.
There were few skirts that twirled in the street but most people were dressed like me, casual as if this was a regular thing. As I continued to dance a few people stopped dancing to stare in amazement as I stepped and spun to the raucous music. As the song easily converted to another, people split into pairs without pausing there dance. We would continuously switch partners. Men would dance with men, women would dance with women, and of course women and men would dance together, it did not matter. I decided to find out what all this is. On my third partner I voiced my curiosity.
"What is all this? Is there some special event?" I shouted above the noise.
"No, we dance like this every weekend! there is know better way to let your spirit fly free and get rid of any stress." The woman shouted right back.
I was astonished, I had never seen anything like this throughout my entire 1,786 years of life. It was one of the most amazing things I had ever experienced. As this dance continued even more people stopped to watch me switch partners follow step perfectly. Finally as the dance turned faster and faster only the best dancers of the town were left in the encasement created by the other townspeople. It was a handful of 17 people. It was an uneven number so some would have to dance alone for a bit to give the others a chance to dance with a partner. As my turn neared I stepped and slid to my spot on the side. I started to twirl and bend and dance alone until within a twirl I was caught from behind by two strong arms. They did not cease my dance but joined me. He spun me back to face him and I saw that he was the stranger from the cafe. His movement were almost as fluid as mine yet instead of my grace and prestige he held an air of power and strength. He lead me through the dance while working perfectly with me as I added extra moves, steps, and dips to the original dance. The other dancers slowly stopped and joined the crowd around us. The music reached a dizzying speed but we did not slow nor stop our perfect, sinful dance together. I looked in his sharp eyes and he drew me in as we both sensed the end of the song nearing. At just the right moment he grasped my waste and threw me into the air where I spun and landed in his hands still suspended above the crowd on the last beat.
The people exploded in applause and chatter. I realized that as we danced the town had grown silent but for the music and our feet against the stone.
I looked over at him and really saw him for the first time. His dark brown hair was cut short on the sides while it was allowed to grow longer on top. His eyes looked like melted chocolate yet they had an intensity about them that could pierce a soul. The black shirt he wore fitted to his powerful yet lean build and bared his muscular arms. I thin sheet of sweat covered his exposed skin. Then my eyes caught on the chain necklace around his neck. It held a dog tag and two feathers, one gold and one silver. Staring back up to his face I saw that he was scanning my body and had zeroed in on my own necklace. In less than a second he held the wing in his hand still attached to the chain around my neck. His eyes danced in amusement and a smirk played on his lips. Dropping the necklace back to my chest he whispered seductively in my ear."Why don't you keep this until we see each other again, my little angel?" His breath tickled the side of my neck causing tingles of pleasure to explode.
I was confused by his words until he barely brushed a blazing trail of heat with his lips down my jaw and then places a soft kiss on my cheek. My heart lept at the strange sensation his little show of affection had caused me. My body turned hot as if it would melt yet I shivered at his touch. As an angel I had never received a kiss with this mysteriously seductive feeling behind it. I immediately realize exactly what I had been thinking and feeling.
Lord forgive for both this kiss and my reaction to it. I could not help but feel the pull it had on me, amen.
Oh p.s. sorry about the dance, I couldn't help myself.
I opened my eyes which I had not even remembered closing and found that the mysterious stranger had once again melted into nothingness.
