I was his fallen angel? I am a fallen angel? I'd only heard about them in history at my university. It was said that the Devil himself was a fallen angel. Supposedly the high archangel Gabriel once had a beautiful angel as his pair feather and they loved each other dearly. The devil had been Gabriel's right hand man. The devil grew so jealous of their love for each other that he kidnapped the young female angel. After desperately trying to gain her affection the devil was found by Gabriel and cast to earth. The angel died only days later due to a curse the devil set upon her for not loving him. I had completely forgotten about the story. Is it even true?
I turned so that I was facing Killian, still caccooned safely in his arms.
"Killian?" I barely whispered just in case he was asleep.
He opened his eyes with droopy look on his face. He was most definitely not a morning bird.
"yes?" His answer was slightly slurred.
"How-how did it happen? How did you become t-the Devil?" He seemed much more awake after my question.
"Nova...."
"Please, please, I won't judge you"
"I know you won't judge me, I just don't want you to loose faith in the archangels."
"Why would that happen?"
He sighed and closed his eyes. I thought he had gone back to sleep until he started speaking."me and Gabriel, we were best friends. We worked together, hung out together, shared everything with each other. Now part of the story told in heaven was true. He had a pair feather while I did not. That was the only difference we had. His pair feather was a gorgeous angel named Aphrodite. The Greeks based their goddess of love off of her.
She was practically Gabriel's master, he would do anything for her. He was so madly in love that many times he was blind to what went on around him. As time progressed, Aphrodite became bored with Gabriel's infatuation with her. Instead she set her sights on a new conquest, me. She would try to seduce me with little gestures and touches, but I remained loyal to my friend and rejected her advances. This seemed to only drive her on and she tried harder and harder to gain my affection. After awhile she gave up on winning me this way. One night, I was ordered to Gabriel's private chambers. Little did I know Gabriel wasn't in his room. When I went in Aphrodite laid sprawled across the bed wearing little to no clothes. I immediately turned to leave but was stopped by her. She pulled me to the bed though I tried to keep my eyes from her. She straddled over me and began to try to kiss me. I could not stand it any longer. Wife or no wife of my friend she was trying to cheat on him and with me. I struck her face and she was thrown to the floor. It didn't affect her much, it merely made her angry. 'fine' she said to me,' but I cannot live with seeing your face every day without having you in my bed'. With that she yelled for the guards. She ripped what little clothing was still on her body as the guards burst into the room. 'He has tried to take advantage of me in my husband's absence' she shed fake tears as the guards dragged me to the dungeon.
When Gabriel heard what had happened from his wife's perspective he was furious. He immediately rushed to the dungeons with vengeance clouding his mind. Without much thought he cursed me to live in darkness for the rest of my existence. He ripped my wing from my neck just as yours was taken. But before the other angels could cast me from heaven I left my own curse. A curse on Aphrodite. She would die soon but not before all of her secrets came unraveled. I fell to earth, no longer a part of the angels link, but still having control over my previous abilities. No more than a week had passed when Gabriel came and visited me, broken and alone in the middle of no where. He explained to me that he had found Aphrodite lying with another man. She was immediately put to death for adultery and fake accusations. Gabriel begged for my forgiveness, but no matter how many times he regretted his rash decision he could not give me my place in heaven back. So instead he did the next best thing. He gave me my own home, my own kingdom. The best thing he did for me though was give me a chance. He could not completely revoke the curse, but he could tweak it slightly. Instead of lasting for eternity this banishment could be broken if I felt as much pain and regret as he had felt in the moment he knew what he had done to me."
He fell silent and I thought over the story. So all this time, Killian had been made out to be a horrible, vile creature when really he had only been trying to be honorable."so really, your the good guy?"
His eyes opened wide,"no! I am in no way good. That is only the beginning of my story. I denied Gabriel's attempt at healing the rift between us. I created an army of evil creatures by stealing their souls. I prey on humans' vulnerabilities. I've killed more than you can imagine and not for good reasons. I let my anger of Gabriel's betrayal consume me and turn me into a monster. I am not, and never will be good. I no longer have a soul or the ability to feel any powerful emotions beyond hate and anger."
"But you smile all the time and you don't hate me do you?"
"No I don't hate you, but those feeling are not strong enough to give me passage back into heaven."
I was about to speak again but he placed his hand over my mouth."It's pretty late why don't you get to sleep."
I couldn't respond because as soon as his hand fell away I slipped into darkness.
