Chapter 10

I tried with all my might to move my arms but couldn't. The girl in my room looked between Brantley and I and smirked. She then looked at me and her eyes went wide. Saying something in another language I didn't understand but my body started to shake.

"Liara!" Brantley yelled my name but I was still trapped. I felt myself shaking when the girl reached inside her bag and poured some type of powder in her hands and blew it in my direction.

Behind me Brantley I heard growl and leap forward he had shifted in to his wolf form. My body dropped to the floor and I felt myself getting sleepy. Before I lost conscience I heard someone scream.

Bentley

Getting that phone call from Brantley that Liara was passed out and not waking up. It scared me shitless. Liara was starting to mean something to me. I was unsure of what she was to me but I was determined to find out.

Quickly taking my shower after I got the phone call I dressed casually and rushed over to Liara's house. When I got to her house, Kevin and a few officers were all around the house searching. I found her mother with a few of the next door neighbors and one lady I didn't recognize.

She stiffened as I closed in the distance between Lucy and I. Her eyes glowed and she glared in my direction. Lucy seen me and stopped talking.

"Hi Bentley. Your brother Brantley is out at the grocery store for your parents. Did he call you to come over?" Her tone was stiff. I could tell a difference in her. Lucy's eyes were a brighter green color and her posture was different. The air around her was darker. "How's Liara? Is she okay?" I just asked her.

My heart pounded so hard I thought it was going to beat out of my chest. The wolf inside was clawing it's way out, but I couldn't let him. He wanted to see her, the pull towards Liara was getting harder to resist.

At first Lucy looked uncomfortable and looked around the table. She didn't answer me but pointed towards the kitchen so I followed. "She is okay, Bentley. But I need you to calm down your wolf. He is showing his head. I know you care about my daughter a little more than you let on."

Dumbfounded, I was shocked she knew about my wolf, and how we were, werewolves. Did my father tell her about us, about the school? "H-How did you know about us?"

"I have my ways Bentley. Just please don't harm my daughter I've already lost my husband and I couldn't bare it if I lost her too." Lucy sniffled. Grabbing a napkin from the kitchen counter and handing it to her. She dabbed at her eyes and then blew her nose.

"I just don't understand, Bentley. I came back here to get away from the other town but now because I'm back home my own daughter gets attacked. I'm not blaming your brother for not getting to her beforehand but your brother would've been put to sleep as well, - "

"I don't know if whatever cause her to go to sleep would've caused us to go to sleep." I answered politely as I could. Well without sounding so cocky.

Lucy perked one eyebrow up in but didn't say anything else but one of the other ladies that was in the living room came in the kitchen.

"So tell me wolf what are you doing here? And what are wanting with one of our own?" The question took me off guard. I stood there with my arms crossed and back against the refrigerator. Lucy looked at the older lady with respect but I didn't get to answer her.

"Ma'dam Luanne, Bentley here is a friend of my daughter. They go to school here together." Lucy answered.

"Together the witches and wolves at school together? Who has heard of such things." The lady replies then walks off and mutters under her breath. I don't listen to her but look at Lucy.

It then clicks in my head. It's like a lightbulb went over my head and a light flickered on. "You're a witch?" I accused. My wolf growled. I looked above me and then looked back at Lucy. I pointed up and asked,

"Is Liara a witch too? Is that why she was attacked?"

At first Lucy turned and looked out of the kitchen window and then lowered her head. Slowly Lucy turned around then half smiled.

"It's always been a tradition with us, women in my family. There are two kinds of witches. Those who are good and those who are bad. I'm one of the good witches I want to help the earth not destroy it or use it for dark projects."

"I'm not sure if Liara is a witch or not. She hasn't shown me any sign of her powers. I think within these next couple of months she will. It's almost her 16th birthday. When we are near our sixteenth birthday's we pre-ascend, we witches get a taste of our power." Her mother took a deep breath as to go on but we heard something moving upstairs. I growled and dashed upstairs before Lucy could say anything to me.

Getting upstairs the air was thick and dark. Something smelled foul. Two of the younger witches moved around me and glared my way.

"Got a problem?" I whispered growled.

"Oh honestly, wolf, we witches are way better than you flea ridden wolves." She snapped back.

Letting that fly off my shoulders but wanted to nip at her for being so rude. None of my pack members would have spoken to me in that tone.
