I wandered around the house trying to find the door that led to the back garden when I spotted some jars on a counter in the kitchen. Being my curious self I stopped looking for the back door and went to check out the jars. As I approached I noticed a foul smell emanating from the jars, "I wonder what's in those jars honesty can't be edible." I thought out loud inching closer to the counter to the counter. When a voice stopped me in my tracks, "Organs, they're my organs so DON'T touch them." the thick scottish accent said.
"Damn I thought everyone was outside' I thought, this time making sure it was in my head so whoever this boy was couldn't hear me. I turned around to face where the voice was coming from when I saw the boy with dark curly hair from earlier. "Erm..." Okay my nerves are coming back "I'm Eliza, what do you need these for anyway?" I asked
" Congratulations, I'm Enoch. I use these for my peculiarity, I take life from ane and give it to another so I can't do that if you muddle up my jars and hearts so if anything happens to them yo-" He was suddenly interrupted by a sweet light voice that seemed pretty fake
"Thank you Enoch, we don't need you scaring away another ward do we?" Said the girl who entered the room wearing a baby blue dress with pale blolnd hair.
Enoch grumbled and pushed past me to grab his jars and pushed past me then the girl and stormed up the stair. "Don't mind him, he's quite possesive of this place and us, I guess." She said whilst drifting away in her thoughts but snapped back to reality when she noticed that I was standing there awkwardly humming to myself. "Oh, so sorry. I'm Emma by the way!"
"Eliza" I replied
"Well instead of just standing here and doing nothing, why don't we go and pick your bedroom?" She asked not waiting for an answer and pulling me up the stairs.
Whisking me past 4 doors we reached the first door that was the same as all the others but when we opened it the room glowed with white patterned wallpaper and almost black wood bordering it, a bookcase on the left of the door and next to that a single bed with white sheets as well.
"Do you like it?" Emma asked
"Actually not really, it's too white for me, I hate too much white." I explained to her,
"Okay then onto next room!" She yanked me out and walked across the hallway to the one across and opened the door to see a dresser right next to the door and a wardrobe standing high next to it and a king single 2 meters away. In this room the walls were a nice shade of thick red, but halfway down was panelled with dark coloured wood.
"This one's really nice, I like it alot!" I said turning to Emma to see her going through her hair in the mirror.
"Yay okay, so where are you from?" Emma asked changing the subject seeming very bored on it.
"Um I'm from Engla-" I was cut off by a bell ringing, "Wow! What's that?" I asked panicked
She laughed "It's only the bell indicating supper's ready calm down." she giggled again, "Come down, you must be starving?"
Following Emma down the staircase, she led me to the dining room where I could smell the food already, it smelt delicious and my stomach agreed making a very loud grumbling sound. I entered to find all eyes curiously staring up at me and I froze, slightly frightened from all the stares and now whispers.
"Children, polite persons do not stare!" Miss Peregrine said taking a seat at the head of the table and all the eyes, one by one, slowly left me. "Come now Eliza, there's a seat next to me." She said kindly. So I foolishly took the seat in between Emma and Miss Peregrine and heard a voice of a young boy say, "Hey! Don't sit on me!" I mentally facepalmed myself. So I hopped up and headed to the across, red faced.
"Children, why don't we all introduce ourselves to our new ward Eiza." Miss Peregrine requested gesturing to me then to the empty chair next to Emma, "Millard you can go first."
After she said that the chair next to Emma slid back slightly showing that the boy had stood up. Then the voice of the boy sounded out, "Hi Eliza! I'm Millard, I'm 87 years old and my peculiarity is that I turn into a goose..." Everyone just stared at him surprised, Enoch annoyed. "I'm only joking guys, obviously I'm invisible."
Then Emma stood up, introduced herself and the twins with the potato sack clothes, then Enoch, Olive, Bronwyn, Fiona, Millard, Hugh, Claire, Horace, Jackie and Miss peregrine. Finally it was my turn so I nervously stood up, out of my chair and said, "Hi everyone, um... I'm Eliza, like Miss Peregrine has said, Hah, um I'm 16 years old and my peculiarity is my voice." I said not knowing how to explain it. After that I quickly sat down. OMG I'm actually so embarrassing.
"Thank you very much Eliza for that wonderful introduction," Miss Peregrine thanked but was interrupted by Enoch thick Scottish accent. "Not really." He snickered but Miss Peregrine quickly shut him up with a glare. "Thank you very much Enoch, meet me in my office after supper. Anyway let's dig in shall we?
