"We'll take two cokes, please," Edward told the waitress. She seemed taken back by his bright smile. I would feel bad for her if she hadn't completely ignored me because Edward surely ignored her. When she walked away to go get the drinks I sighed. I looked up to notice him staring at me intently.
"Could you not stare, Edward. It's rude."
"How are you feeling?" He asked ignoring my comment and continuing to stare.
"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"
"You don't feel sick or anything?"
"Should I?" He seemed to be waiting for me to have a nervous breakdown.
"I'm waiting for you to go into shock."
"I don't think so," I laughed. "Maybe you're the one in shock."
"I think I will feel better once I see you eat something." Right on cue, the waitress came back to take our orders. Edward didn't order anything but I got ravioli. Most girls say they feel weird eating around guys but I didn't, especially since the food was free. There were no complaints here, but I couldn't help but wonder why he never ate anything, I didn't feel like asking so I let it go. I shivered slightly feeling a chill come out of nowhere.
"Are you cold?" He asked me. This is the cliché moment were the guy wraps his oversized jacket nicely around the girl and they have a cute romantic moment. I cringed at the thought and shook the image out of my head. "Are you okay?" he added to his already existing question.
"No, I mean I'm not cold, and, yes I am okay," I tried to add a reassuring smile to my statement. A moment of silence passed between us and I shivered again. Damn it! He smirked and shrugged his jacket off and handed it to me. "Here," he said trying to stifle a laugh. I took the jacket reluctantly. The scent of it was different from anything I'd ever smelled. It wasn't cologne but it smelled wonderful.
"That color blue looks wonderful on you," he commented. I smiled in response not knowing what to say. Had my skin tone been any lighter, I probably would have been extremely red. I could feel the heat of the blush on my cheeks. He pushed the basket of breadsticks towards me and nodded. "I am fine. I'll eat when the food comes. Stop trying to make me eat. I'm good. I feel safe with you." He shook his head but said nothing.
"This is more complicated than I'd planned," he muttered to himself. What did he plan? In fact, how did he know where I was in the first place. I then shook my head mimicking him. I was grateful once again for his timely appearance, but all it did was raise my suspicions about him. His attitude was sudden. He was upset but I didn't know why. I hadn't said anything rude. Did I?
"You are usually in a better mood when your eyes are light," I noted out loud. I didn't really plan on saying that out loud, it just came out, like most of the things I said to Edward. "What did you just say?" He seemed more shook than I thought he would be by my observation.
"Excuse my language but, you are usually bitchy when your eyes are darker. When your eyes are light you are much...nicer." I said not knowing a better way to put it.
"It's just a theory of mine," I added.
"You have more theories?"
"I didn't get this one from a comic book this time," I stated.
The waitress appeared with the food and once again asked Edward if he wanted anything. Once she left our conversation continued.
"I will tell you about it in the car if you answer my questions."
"Okay," he said simply.
"Why were you in Port Angeles?"
"Next."
