We rumbled along Interstate Nevada for nearly an hour before I noticed the car was turning into a small dirt road bypass.

"This is Airline bypass Nevada1, it is a quicker way to move things to the docking area and a top secret area."

I looked the Knight in her sudden cold, hard eyes, "Which means this area is not to be discussed with anyone."

Nodding I turned away, to intimidated by this girl to answer.

The scenery passed in as blur, Patagonia's and wildflowers , tall pines and deep green spruce trees, small chickadee's and sparrows flitting in between the branches as a great Golden Eagle stared down from her nest. The undergrowth crawled with vines, young oak and maple trees, providing shelter for the chipmunks and rabbits who had made their home there. Rock outcroppings gave light to two small coyote pups playing in a small swath of dappled sunlight. Deer bounded close and ran off, and other animals looked up in curiosity at out strange moving vehicle. Nothing like it had been seen for a while, Mothers warned their children away, and told them of times when they had no homes because these moving monsters had once cause great destruction. But, they said, somehow they changed and so the air cleared, the waters purified and their homes and food came back. They said it was because the creatures that built them made them change. These creatures, strange as they were, caused destruction and creation, but soon calmed as they noticed the great casualties they had caused. So they withdrew and began again, and in return the forests offered her life giving air again. However, this new start happened without some. Bear and Cougar went missing, Hare took his last breath still in that poisoned air, and Trout rose to the top of that black, suffocating river, ever still. Things have changed, the mothers whispered, but we cannot forget the rebirth's destruction. The creatures are unpredictable, some even bring their young to live with us. However peaceful it may seem, our home was like this once, and yet was destroyed.

"So tread carefully and watch the shadows for they might hide danger"

They whispered this, the wind carrying their voiced over hundreds of years. They did not know that a human had someone had heard this and passed it on to others, who passed it on, who passed it on, who passed  it on, who passed it on, for centuries and this is the one thing I have obeyed my whole life, and the one thought that truly sounded in my mind as I watched the scenery go by.
