Chapter 8: Humiliate Me All You Want

Meghan almost slept during the assembly in the school hall. She could not focus. She was half asleep. Today, of course, she had band practice. She saw Neven turning back from the other class. Meghan tried not to look at her after what happened yesterday. The lessons went by quickly and soon it was recess break. She met Lisa, another one of her ridiculously huge group of friends with Neven. Of course, she tried to ignore Neven. "Why are you so angry today?" asked Neven. Meghan kept quiet and realised that she should not me so mean to Neven. She piped up, "Oh, nothing." They played catch and soon the break was over. While seated on the school hall floor, Meghan thought about Austin. One of her biggest rivals. 'He's going down,' Meghan thought.

Meghan went down the steps to the practice room with Tina and Emily, another good friend. "Hi!" Neven greeted. "You shut up!" Meghan said playfully. The girls had made up a group called 'Tiama' Sorry about the ridiculous name. The girls made up a plan and shooed Neven away. "I'm thinking about playing a joke on Neven. We should put her out of the group. If she acts sad, we'll take her in. If she is happy, we'll completely take her out," Tina explained. "Great Idea!" Meghan and Emily said together. They walked to the table where they put their bags and saw Neven. "Hey Neven, we will make way for a new girl to come into our group. So the person who is going out is you," Meghan said to Neven. "I know," Neven replied as she walked away.

After doing all the warmup and other important stuff, the conductor asked the flutists and the clarinet players to move to a classroom since a guy called Mr Blary (His nickname is Blah Blah Blah) came. They quickly moved. Tina carried the files, Meghan carried the stands while Neven did not carry anything. As soon as they were settled, Mr Blary talked about the concert he was playing in this evening. "So, 1 person is solo. 2 people are a duo. And what is 3 people?" Mr Blary asked. Meghan raised her hand and answered,"Trio," "Ahhh. Smart," Mr Blary praised. The practice started and Meghan and Tina chatted while Mr Blary was checking on other students. Tina asked if she could drink water with Meghan. Meghan agreed. They asked Mr Blary. Tina walke out the door while Meghan shuffled while Mr Blary was not looking. "Hey where are you going!" Mr Blary shouted. "Come here!" "I want to drink water," Meghan asked."No! Sit down!" Mr Blary ordered while pointing to Meghan's chair. "Humiliate me all you want," Meghan warned. The whole class gasped. Mr Blary frowned. Again, another pupil asked to drink water. "But I'm so thirsty!" The pupil complained. "No!" Mr Blary shouted back.
