Chapter 6: The Engagement?!
Meghan climbed up the ladder of her treehouse. She sobbed and sobbed and sobbed until the whole treehouse flooded. She could not believe that she was getting married to a 32 year old man named Austin. She was filled with anger. How could she stop child marriage? She had heard many cases of this problem. "I hope that Austin guy gets eaten up by a lion," Meghan whispered to herself. 'Ugh. Neven would not want to be my friend anymore,' she thought. She wanted to drop by Neven's house to solve the problem and make a plan. She grabbed some coins from a coin box. This time, she took the streetcar.
🌚
The streetcar pulled to a stop. Meghan got down and walked to Neven's ranch. She heard someone screaming "No!" It was coming from the stables. She ran in to see what was going on. Meghan saw Neven leaning on a horse stall door, crying. To Meghan's surprise, the horse stall was empty. A sign read 'Savannah'. 'Neven's horse!' Meghan thought. "Oh! Meghan, you're here!" Neven cried. "Yeah. I have to deal some problems with you. Anyways, what's going on?" Meghan asked. "Somebody kidnapped my horse, Savannah!" Neven explained anxiously. "How did he look like?" Meghan asked again. "As usual, he is my neighbour. He has light brown hair, hazel eyes and he wore a tuxedo today," Neven replied. "Is his name Austin?" Meghan wondered. "Yes, how come you know?" Neven asked. "My mom, like a fool said that he was one of the few choices for my 'husband'. I would rather commit suicide than marry at this age," Meghan explained. Neven frowned. "You know what? We'll help you get the horse back," Meghan cheered her up.
🌚
Unfortunately, the plan did not work out. But Meghan wanted revenge from that man. She went back home. This time, Austin was there. AGAIN. "You kidnapped my friend's horse! You sick son of a bitch!" Meghan screamed at Austin. "Whoa whoa whoa, watch your language, 10 year old," Austin warned playfully. "This is not funny, freako. I warn you, if you ever want to be my husband, you better tell the truth," Meghan warned sternly. "Excuse me, we have a 22 year age gap. You cannot scold me!" Austin shot back. "I rather have sex with a cow than marry you!" Meghan shouted angrily. "You're only 10. Why do you have such a dirty mind. "I'm 15!" Meghan yelled. "No you look like you are 5 because you are so immature," Austin said. "Look who's talking," Meghan finished the argument and went upstairs to her bedroom.
🌚
"Meghan honey, open the door," Her mother called. "What?" Meghan asked. They sat on the couch. "I have great news!" You're getting engaged tomorrow!" Meghan's mother said excitedly. "Whatever," Meghan replied. 'When he gives me the ring i will throw it,' Meghan thought.
🌚
Engagement day. Ugh. Meghan woke up to find a mannequin in a fancy dress in front of her. Her sister, Lindsey, helped her put on her dress. She wore a tiara. Many of her relatives came. She sat down in front of a bouquet of flowers. Then Austin and Meghan's male relatives stepped in the house. Soon later, It was time for Austin put the ring on Meghan's finger. When it was finally on, Meghan threw the ring on the floor. She then threw her tiara on Austin's face. "Bam! Serves you right!" Meghan shouted at Austin.
"Ugh," Meghan's mother sighed. "This is how mischievous my daughter is."
