I wake up in a strange, yet ethereal room. Everything is absolutely breathtaking and definitely has the craftsmanship of the Halcyon. I say something that would make my mother wash my mouth out with soap. I try to stand. I almost succeed, but then unfortunately my knees buckle and I fall on my face. Red hot pain racks my body. I roll onto my back and look at myself. I'm covered in dirt and blood. There's a horrible gaping wound in my thigh. Explains why I can't walk.
I prop myself up on my elbows and look around. The room is large and circular. The ceiling is domed and made out of glass. Constellations glitter in the deep blue sky. I didn't have time to stare at the stars though. I had to get out of here. Despite growing up in an underground safe house, I knew the constellations by heart. I taught myself by using star charts made by my ancestors.
I quickly calculate where I am. My mouth goes dry. I'm in the capitol city, Serendipity. I take another look around the room and my breathing quickens. It just kept getting worse and worse. Lying on asleep on the bed is a girl. Most likely around my age. I look for anything that will work as a cane. I find a long sword and stand up slowly. I grunt in pain, but I manage. I hobble over to the girl. I wasn't sure who, are what she was. For all I know she could be one of the Halcyon. She didn't look anything like the Halcyon though. Instead of the signature blond hair of the Halcyon, she had long red hair. Elf, maybe? She's probably one of the Halcyon's many slaves. My brain comes up with all sorts of possibilities. Then I have an idea. She could help the remaining humans get to somewhere safe. Somewhere where we could be free. Most of my ideas are horrible and will end up injuring me or, in extreme cases, nearly killing me, but this one seemed... well brilliant.
I shift most of my weight over to my good leg. I hoist up my new sword and aim it at the girl, as a precaution. I stand there waiting for her to wake up or something. She's still deep asleep. After a minute ticks by I get tired of waiting.
" HEY!!!" I shout as loud as I can. All I see are bright blue eyes and then I'm pinned to the floor. Like I said, my ideas normally end up nearly killing me.
