I couldn't believe it. She was in. She was going to help me find Hiraeth. I could finally live without fearing the Halcyons. I move the sword away from the girl's throat. " Are you serious?"

She nods. " Dead serious. No one will even notice when I'm gone. No one cares." She stands up and inspects me. " You're wounded. I thought for sure you'd have already done something about that."

I stand up and use the sword as a cane again. " Well, I didn't really know what to do about it."

She nods and saunters over to the vanity. She pull a silver canister out of the top drawer and walks back to me. She pulls off the lid and offers the canister to me. " Here put some of this on your leg. It'll help."

I look at her doubtfully then down at the contents of the canister. Inside is some slightly luminescent silver cream. I dip my finger into it and feel a slight chill. I scoop some up and dab it onto my wounded thigh. I feel immediate relief. I look at the girl and see her smirking. I look down and see that my wound is quickly closing. And then there's no trace of it. I smile at the girl, " Thank you..."

" Serenity Faye. But you can call me Ren. I've never really liked my name. I'm anything but serene. " She applies some of the cream onto the cut in her neck. Courtesy of well... me.

" Thank you, Ren. So um... how do we get out of here?"

She looks at me skeptically. " I'm still thinking about it. While I formulate our escape plan, go take a shower or something. You smell. I'll find you some Halcyon attire so you can blend in a bit better. "

" Ok, where is the bathroom?"

She points, " Over there. Go."

I walk into the bathroom and close the door behind me.
