Thump! The armoury door is stubborn and won't budge. I sigh and shove my shoulder against the door again, this time harder. The door swings open easily and I land hard on the old wooden floor. Behind me I can hear Maverick stifle a laugh.
" Shut up." I growl as I stand up. I keep my back turned to him so he won't see the crimson blush creeping onto my cheeks. I proceed to the sword rack without a word.
The floorboards creak as the human follows me. " So why do we need weapons? Are you planning on fighting your way out of here?" asks Maverick.
I sigh and grab a large double handed silver sword. I thrust into Maverick's hands. " Try this one. We'll need weapons for hunting and protection from babirusas. And if the need rises, we'll use them to fight our way out, " I explain as I search for my sword.
I can hear Maverick unsheathe the sword and swing it around a few times. Then I hear the lovely sound of swords clattering to the floor. I whirl around just as Maverick puts the sword I gave him back on the rack.
He catches me staring at him and blushes. " That one might be too big for me."
" No kidding," I respond, letting sarcasm slip into my voice. I strap my sword around my waist and grab a long bow from the wall. I sling a quiver of arrows over my back and grab another sword. " Try this."
Maverick takes the sword and carefully unsheathes it. It's a silver sword made of fine craftsmanship. Red leather is wrapped around the hilt and the double edged blade gleams in the light. A slow smile creeps onto Maverick's face and he swings the sword skillfully. He tries a thrust and a parry and grins at me. " Its perfect. "
