"I'm sorry I'm sorry!!!!" shouted Natsu as Mikoto pulled on his ear.
"I don't believe this!!" Lucy exclaimed. "You burned down the underground shopping area!!!!???"
"But-" Natsu began. "AAAGGHHHH OW!!"
Mikoto continued to pull hard on Natsu's ear. "You're lucky the cameras all shorted out from from the blast!!! Otherwise, Anti-Skill would have arrested you within the hour!!!!!"
It was morning, and the Fairy Tail Cafe had just opened it's doors. It was still quite early in the morning though, so Mikoto and Lucy were taking advantage of the emptiness in the cafe to scold Natsu for obliterating nearly half of the underground shopping area.
They weren't ignorant though. Mikoto had already asked Kuroko to see if Judgement could dig up anything on a strange priest with long red hair. But in the meantime........Natsu shouldn't have gone overboard in a fight like that. This wasn't Fiore anymore where repairs could be instantly made through magic. The board of directors who ran this place were definitely a lot harsher then the Magic Council.
"Seriously Natsu!!" Mikoto said. "If you're going to fight someone, think a little before you go and blow everything up!!"
Index, who was sitting at a cafe table nearby stood up haughtilly. "Oh yeah, Miss Shorthair!? You go overboard in fights all the time!! Why else do the traffic lights in this city always malfunction!? And then there were all those times you caused blackouts in entire districts!!"
Mikoto went a little red with embarrassment. She did tend go a little overboard in fights. Even Kuroko had told her that time and time again.
"Well it's to be expected." said Mira cheerfully as she took a tray of pastries out from the oven. "The one thing to be expected of those from Fairy Tail is that we'll always go overboard. Besides, this isn't nearly as bad as the time Natsu destroyed an entire village.......twice."
Mikoto sighed. "Aw....well I guess you're right."
Suddenly the cafe door flew open and Touma Kamijou burst in. "INDEX!! I turn my back for one second!!!"
Apparently, Index and Touma had gone out last night to get something (late birthday present for Mikoto, but she didn't know that yet.) In the process, the two of them had been seperated somehow. After Happy flew back to the cafe carrying the unconscious Index, Lucy and Mikoto had called Touma, who had been paniking all over the city looking for her.
Index had been allowed to stay the night, as it was already 1:00 in the morning. Mikoto had then returned to her dorm, and not wanting to face the dorm supervisor, had actually used her static electricity to cling to the wall and climb all the way to her dorm window.
"Oh hi Touma!!" said Index cheerfully waving. "What brings you here?"
Touma slapped a hand to his forhead. "To pick you up of course......what else?"
Touma turned to look at Mikoto. "Sorry about that Misaka.....I'll just take her off your.....eh? What's wrong?"
Mikoto had gone extremely red and was trying to form words, but couldn't. "Umm.....erm..........hi......"
Happy, walked over to Mikoto and whispered sinisterly. "You li~ke him...."
Mikoto gritted her teeth and muttered "Shut up" at Happy.
"You li~ke him."
"Shut up Happy."
"You LI~KE him...."
"I mean it Happy....."
"You really really Li~KE him......"
"Uhhh....Misaka?" said Touma. "You feeling alright?"
Mikoto must have looked pretty strange, what with her extremely red face, unusually shy demeanor, and the sparks jumping from her bangs from rage at Happy. Mikoto couldn't take it anymore, she needed some air before she exploded from hyperventilation.
"I-I gotta........ummmmm...........go.......floss!!" Mikoto, ran out of the cafe absolutely red in the face, while Touma just stood there looking absolutely confused.
"Uhh....what was that all about?" asked Touma.
"Oh, I'm sure she's fine." said Mira cheerfully. "It's a case of what I would call....lover's fever."
"You idiot!" Mikoto said to herself as she walked down the street of the Learning Garden. "I have to go floss?! What kind of stupid statement was that!? When am I just going to buck up and tell him that I really li-?"
Mikoto was suddenly cut off by a familiar sounding voice coming from down the street. "Hey~ Misaka!"
"Oh no," said Mikoto turning around to look. "It's you."
Running up the street to her was none other then the blonde haired Misaki Shokuhou. Also known as the 5th strongest level 5, Mental Out. Of all the level 5s she had to run into after a 2 month absence....why did it have to be her? (she would have even preferred Meltdowner over Misaki.)
"Now is that the way to speak to me after not seeing each other for two months?" said Misaki playfully pouting at Mikoto and doing a cutesy pose. "Really now!"
"Well I have to admit, I'm a little surprised it's you talking to me and not one of your brainwashed zombies." said Mikoto coldly.
Mental Out was one of the most powerful telepaths in Academy City. She could willingly control the mind of any human she wished. Unless you counted Mikoto, who because of the unconscious electromagnetic field around her mind, was immune to Misaki's control.
Because Mental Out really hated public appearences, she tended to use mind control to get other people interact in her place. Or she would directly contact the one she wished to speak to through telepathy. Because she was the only other level 5 who went to Tokwadai besides Mikoto, the two of them were kind of like rivals.......with one difference. Mental Out couldn't get enough of irritating Mikoto, while Railgun wanted absolutely nothing to do with Misaki whatsoever.
Mikoto had always felt sort of sickened by the way Misaki used her powers. Not to mention, despite Misaki's carefree and cutesy naive exterior, on the inside she was quite cunning and devious. (Not that Mental Out was inheritantly a bad person.)
"What do you want Shokuhou?" said Mikoto. "I'm busy."
"Oh?" said Misaki. "Busy hiding from that boy you like?"
Mikoto went red. "No.....I mean yes.....I mean shut up!!"
Misaki let out a mischevious gleam from her eyes. "You had better hurry up and go out with him then.......because I can't garuntee he'll be available for long....."
"Wh-What are you talking about!?"
"Well...."said Misaki as a sly grin went up her face. She took something that looked like a tv remote out of her pocket and clicked on it. "I might decide to seduce him myself."
All of a sudden everyone around them stopped what they were doing and stared blankly at Mental Out, as if waiting for orders on what to do.
"For instance." Said Mental Out cheerfully. "I think I could make all the girls in this crowd make out with him~"
Suddenly a thunderbolt flew past Misaki's head and melted a nearby mailbox into a puddle.
"You wouldn't dare!" said Mikoto gritting her teeth.
Misaki smiled as if she was enjoying herself. But then something unexpected happened. Everyone in the area besides her and Mikoto suddenly collapsed unconscious. Misaki looked around surprised. "What? I didn't do anything-"
"Actually.....that was caused by me!!" Night Reveler appeared several feet away in a puff of smoke and confetti.
"You!!" Mikoto said recognizing the emblem on Night Reveler's outfit. "You're from Hydra Head!"
"Allow me to introduce myself!!" Night Reveler's head disconnected from his neck and did a three hundred sixty degree turn in mid air (which really freaked the two girls out.) "You can call me Night Reveler. King of Illusions, Prince of Pranks, and............."
the star and moon eyes on Night Reveler's mask glowed red. ".........I'm going to EAT you............"
