Millions of people in Pakistan started rushing out to neighbor countries. There was chaos in international flights and even in land transport all over the world. It seemed almost impossible for the members of the last minute search group to reach Mohenjo-Daro.
A sergeant from the US armed forces was on duty in Pakistan but had taken a leave just before the asteroid news spread. In the chaos, he could not make it back to his base. The US army withdrew all personnel from Pakistan in three days and he was left alone. He traveled to Lahore to find a way out to India. It was two days before the impact and he could hardly see anyone around. There were still some people with their families rushing out having full filled their vehicles but they ignored the sergeant. He was literally trapped until a truck stopped by.
A woman called out to him from the vehicle's window. "Where are you going?"
He first thought it was someone from the army and felt relieved. But she was the scientist that we know from the news. She was driving a truck with her best friend along who was a historian.
"We are going towards Larkana to the ruins of Mohenjo-Daro." She said.
"Are you crazy? Everyone is rushing out. There is no transport. There is not even an operating gas station. Haven't you heard the news?" The sergeant hesitated for a moment and carefully looked at the scientist's face. "Oh my God! Aren't you the NASA scientist on the news? Why the hell are you here?"
