"How was Daniel's PhD award ceremony?" Carmen asked me.

"What is that, please?"

"Didn't he invite you or Topaz? I'm sorry I asked."

"What?"

Other things happened also, during that time: the 9 months after Mya went to bed with Daniel, HER HUSBAND. 

Carmen's friends who ran around woods were making a calendar.

They would be photographed for it.

They all had a month. Carmen had said she did not care which month as long as it was one of the long ones. She was Ms August.

"Just me, coming out of the sea clutching a sea shell," she sighed. But we are having a few problems. Ms October, after months of being revoltingly PC, has gone vegetarian."

"So?"

"She won't wear leather any more. Recycled PVC? I ask you! Why would anyone want to ogle her being PC in PVC?"

"What is PVD?" I asked Daniel, after she had left. "Is it like your PVD seminary that has not happen yet despise Carmen mistake think it has?"

"You would look nice in PVC," he assured me.

"Wear PVD to PVC seminary?"

"Mmmmmm. Probably not. Look, about the PhD ceremony. I can't get any more tickets. My parents and grand-parents would be heart-broken if they weren't invited. Particularly after what Cin got up to at her graduation ceremonies. You don't mind not going, do you? It would be very dull."

Oh dear. That is a typing mistake.

Daniel's ceremony happened. He brought me photos of him wearing a strange cloak and even stranger hat, not like Santa Claus, different from that. His parents were in some of the pictures, not wearing any hats.

Carmen had more problems with her calendar.

"Ms March refuses to do full frontal nudity! She has had ridiculously long hair extensions! Even longer than your hair, Mya!"

"Goodness,W said Alison. "Is such a thing possible? Has her head not fallen off?"

"The extensions are very light," said Carmen, without laughing. "Even lighter than real hair, which is not heavy compared to other parts of the body. Also, they are flame-proof. Much more practical than real hair for someone in her profession. Miss June has found God and refuses to pose as a vampire. So we had to move her. She's now Miss April. Fully clad warrior, lots of leather, very tall woman, very scary."

"Are people who find God still allowed to play?"

Carmen looked sulky.

"We've had to bring in some lesbian Christians. They're trying to persuade her not to go on one of those courses which teach lesbians how to be straight. Although the lesbian vegetarian Christian is less than helpful about the leather."

"Why shouldn't she go straight?" demanded Alison.

"No reason," said Carmen. "But she has such a magnificent body. It would be such a waste."

"Not a waste for straight Christian males," pointed out Amber.

"They're all married or celibate," wailed Carmen.
