Alison again:

Meanwhile, I was very busy with the rest of my life.  I don't think that some people appreciate that I was having to do my paid work and most of the housework at the same time as looking out for Mya and Topaz.  For example, I was had been asked to teach a new film studies module on sex and death.

I didn't even know where to start at first.  Vampire films, I supposed.

"Bloodsucking is sexy? So, headlice are now sexy?" jeered Amber.

"Don't be so silly," said Carmen. "Bloodsucking is only sexy when carried out by someone approximately your own size, that does not make you itch."

"It's not just about the sucking," said Suzie. "It's about the seduction by a powerful being."

"Oh, Suzie," I sighed.  "If only you were in charge of putting this module together."

I was very excited when my new module suddenly became very topical in a faintly personal way. Okay, I am not in touch with Virginia Vanzant any more, but we exchanged emails for a while after graduation, and I am in contact with two of her sisters.  I think that counts.

Now she is famous because of being in a banned film.

Well, it wasn't entirely banned; and there are also those who argue that she was already famous because of her work in (two-thirds of) the Franny Imogen Aquarius triology. She was in Aquarius Dawns. Her character was cut from the second film, Rage of Aquarius, much to the disappointment of many (including Ms Imogen and many film critics). The producers had to arrange rewrites to the script so that her character could return in the third film.

Virginia and I were in a film together when I was an actress.

It is a long time ago. Carmen teases me about the fact that there are actually ageing videotapes of it in circulation.

It was not released on videotape, of course. I am not that old. The ones that exist are ex-rental. There were still plenty of people still using their old VCRs then. They were seen as retro and trendy, by the type of people who still have vinyl records.

I believed Carmen owned a pink one. When it ceased to be retro and merely became dated, she put it in storage and eventually donated it to Mrs H. (Mrs H sold it just as they became fashionable again and made quite a bit of money on the deal.)

The film in which Virginia and I appeared, Angelica Rose, was listed as "obscure; and starring Virginia Vanzant in her first screen appearance".

I'm glad Virginia was in Angelica Rose. Through her, I can link myself to virtually every A-list Hollywood star in 2, 3 or 4 degrees!

Mostly two or three!

Fame at last!

Yes, Virginia Anne Vanzant is her real name. You can find out all about her on several websites. All her sisters have names beginning with V. In age order, they are Viva-Jane Sorensen, Victoria Carina, Vida Anya and Venus Vanzant.

All of them write poetry. Victoria co-owns the Treble Victory Film Production Company with her lover, Vikki Colette.

Venus is also a performance artist.

Amber nearly got named Angelica Rose, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I think I remember that I had fallen out with someone named Angelina or Rosa. I can hardly remember the details now, so it can't have been a big deal. Sigh. Then I was going to use the name Angelica Rose for my next daughter. I don't think I'll get a chance, now.
