"Look at you, Miss Bronzer; way to make me look even paler than normal!"
Cheryl simply burst out laughter as soon as she stepped off the elevator and heard the voice of her flame-haired best friend, Nicola Roberts, whom had been inside her office sorting through some paperwork when the elevator doors opened, which instantly captured her attention. Today was Monday; and Cheryl's first day back to work after being on fantastic vacation to Spain for a couple weeks with Liam and Sophia. Whilst she missed waking up to sunshine, warmth, and white sand and the ocean every day, Cheryl had to admit that she was glad to be back at work again with a clear mindset, clearly ready to help more people before she'd then be gone again in four weeks time for her maternity leave.
"Mmm...I missed you Gingerella; you alright?" Cheryl remarked before she softly kissed her friend's cheek as they shared a warm hug; Cheryl having waved to some other lawyers before walking into Nicola's office.
"I'm great now that you're back; I always miss you when I don't see you much – plus the conference room isn't as fun to have lunch in as your office is with that massive window." Nicola giggled as she sat down in her desk chair and rolled it around to the side whilst Cheryl sat down on one of the chairs Nicola had in front of her desk. Her rather large baby bump was showing through the black sleeveless dress she was wearing, though she still looked absolutely stunning as she was so tanned from her holiday, plus her long hair was wavy and flowing down her back and shoulders, and her makeup had been kept to a minimum as she never needed it anyway.
"Aw, well I'm back now so lunch in my office is definitely a must today," she winked as she stroked her hand over her bump, "Now, you didn't scare any of my clients away did you?"
"No Attorney Cole, I have not; I handled your meetings like a professional – what do you take me for?" Nicola smirked before giggling as Cheryl rolled her eyes, shaking her head in despair.
"You're an absolute nightmare," she breathed out, "Oh, by the way at lunch today, we'll all discuss what I had to talk to Liam about whilst we were on holiday." She sighed and shook her head, leading Nicola to tilt her head in confusion with her lip stuck out.
"Is it bad?" she asked.
"Not bad; just...huge...and a lot more conversations and meetings need to be held about it," Cheryl then hoisted herself up from the chair and onto her feet, "Right, I have work to do and I will see you for lunch, Attorney Roberts."
"Yeah, yeah – get out my office Miss Bronzer pants!" Nicola playfully replied, leading Cheryl to burst out laughing as she made her way down the hall. She gave a wave to her brother and Kimberley, who were in their offices and on the phones with clients, before patting Lily on the head as she was sat at her own desk; Lily looking up from the computer monitor and smiling straight away.
"Don't you look so tanned and shit; I'm jealous." She whined as she stood up to hug her. Cheryl smiled and hugged her back, kissing her cheek.
"I wish we could've made it a group holiday or something; you and your Shane could've come with me and Liam and Soph; it was pure bliss out there, Lils – honestly." She replied, a genuinely happy smile on her face as memories of her lovely holiday with her little family came rushing back to her.
"Wipe that silly smile off your face, it's freaking me out," Lily giggled before handing Cheryl a note, "By the way, Tre called here this morning for you; that's his mobile number – he was adamant that you ring him when you get in."
"About what?" Cheryl asked, frowning in confusion. Lily shrugged her shoulders, leading Cheryl to shrug as well before she then made her way into her office whilst Lily sat back down at her desk. She shut the door behind her and immediately went to sit down at her desk, before pulling out her iPhone to give Tre a call. After a few rings, she immediately heard him answer in a distressed voice,
