The voices were muffled.
Everything was blurry then dark – blurry then dark – blurry then dark again.
The fight for Cheryl to stay conscious was a tough one. She heard the nurses and doctors barking orders to each other, she felt herself being transferred from the stretcher to a bed.
She felt so cold even though she knew it was warm out today.
A doctor kept saying her name but she couldn't respond. She felt almost paralyzed or something; she couldn't speak. Her head was too heavy, and her eyes were closing again as her vision grew more and more blurry.
And again, everything went black...

Meanwhile in the lobby, Lily, Nicola, and Kimberley, as well as Nadine and even Sarah, were sat down in the chairs while Garry leaned against the wall; his shirt still stained with his sister's blood from when he'd knelt down to her. His and Cheryl's mother and father were on the way down from Newcastle; the law firm was closed for the day as it was an active crime scene. Mark the security guard was helping direct the investigators at the law firm, and the police were combing through the streets of the city, looking for JB.
"Garry!"
Garry looked up, seeing Liam rushing towards him with an extremely terrified expression on his face.
"Where is she? Where's Cheryl?" he immediately began asking questions, it being clear that he was extremely worked up and worried as his eyes were brimming with tears.
"She's still in surgery, mate," Garry sighed, "God, why didn't she just wait for me to come back like I told her?"
"Him again? I'm fucking sick of him," Liam grumbled, "I swear to God, I'm gonna-"
"Liam don't – she won't want you to get in trouble." Lily immediately replied, stopping him from finishing his sentence. Liam was about to respond before being interrupted by Garry.
"Mate, where are Soph and Austin?" he asked, his eyes being full of concern.
"Soph is at school, man, and Austin is at daycare where my sister works," Liam replied before looking up again with wide eyes, "Call me if anything changes; I need to go get Sophia!"
"Hurry, mate; JB is crazy – hurry." Garry told him. Liam nodded his head, rushing straight back outside to his car. He immediately started the engine and drove off out of the spot, pulling onto the main road and rushing towards Sophia's school.

Meanwhile at the school, the playground as alive with the sounds of happy laughter as the young children squealed whilst playing around. Sophia was happily playing with her new friends on the swing set, the little girl giggling away as she chatted with a couple other girls and a little boy, none the wiser to the complete chaos plaguing her family at the moment as she remained in the protective little bubble of school.
She was in her own world with her friends a few minutes later when her teacher shouted her name, causing her to rush over to her friends. She gave a confused frown when the teacher told her that her father was there to pick her up early, this immediately causing Sophia to grip onto her teacher's hand more as she walked inside with her, already prepared to start screaming when she saw JB as there was no way she was going anywhere with him.
