Sheer panic was flooding through Cheryl's body as she rushed into the hospital emergency entrance with Garry on her heels; Garry having followed her in his car as he wasn't going to let his sister deal with things like this on her own. The two rushed up to the receptionist to say something before their attention was captured by Niall, whom had spotted Cheryl and shouted her name from the waiting area.
"Niall, what happened?" she asked as she ran up to him as fast as her heels could carry her; swallowing as she saw the other lads sat around along with Geoff, Karen, and Ruth and Nicola.
Her stomach flipped as she saw the blood on Geoff's shirt.
"It all happened so fast," Niall swallowed as he looked at her, "We heard two shots and next thing we know, Liam was on the ground and bleeding loads and...I don't even know."
"Chez, sit down." Garry immediately spoke up as he saw his sister swaying slightly; leading him to immediately grabbing hold of her arm to help her sit down.
"Have you heard anything?" he asked, taking charge of the situation as Cheryl was simply staring at the wall in shock, looking quite pale as she started to shake slightly with anxiety.
"Nothing yet and it's driving me mad," Louis sighed out as he looked up from his hands, "I don't understand who would do this, to be honest; Liam wouldn't hurt a fly."
"Liam's one of the kindest people; so, who would have motive to hurt him?" Harry wondered, running his hand through his hair.
"Did you guys see who might have done this or?" Garry asked.
"A car sped off after the shots but we couldn't see who was inside." Louis replied, a sigh escaping his lips as he ran his hands up and down his face.
As they sat in complete silence in the waiting room, a million and one thoughts continued running through Cheryl's mind. She knew who would probably have motive to hurt Liam – someone connected to her; it was always someone to do with her. She wondered if this was another test of the strength of her and Liam's relationship; it was of course another case of someone trying to tear them apart and hurt her, and Cheryl was truly wondering if this was worth it anymore. She knew if anything happened to Liam, she would never forgive herself. He was the love of her life and she wouldn't be able to live with the pain of losing him – and the pain of knowing that most likely, this was something more so to do with her, to send her a message.
God, she hated herself for once again, causing someone she loved and cared about to get hurt...
It was probably fifteen minutes or so later when a doctor finally wandered into the waiting room, the clearing of his throat capturing everyone's attention as they looked up.
"Are you all here for Liam Payne?" he asked. They all nodded whilst Karen and Geoff as well as Cheryl stood up.
"Hi, I'm Geoff Payne and this is my wife Karen – we're Liam's parents," he then placed his other hand on Cheryl's shoulder, "This is Cheryl – Liam's fiancée."
"Lovely to meet you all, I'm just sorry it's under these circumstances," the doctor sighed before shaking their hands, "I'm Doctor Stan Young – head surgeon here. Please, sit down and allow me to explain."
Everyone settled themselves down in the chairs; Garry holding on to Cheryl's hand as they all sat there and listened intently at what the doctor was saying.
"Now, as you all know, Liam was shot – one bullet lodged into his side from his back and exited through the front, just narrowly missing his kidney and other organs which is good," he explained,
