"Urgh my head" Pippa moaned after emerging from the sink.
She rubbed her eyes and was surprised to find complete darkness, apart from the suspiciously highlighted sink. I don't know this room She thought.
I wish I just understood things, I wish I knew what was wrong with me.
Pippa clutched to her piece of parchment as a blinding light rushed into the darkness and a strong wind followed blowing her frizzy hair out of her neat bun. The room transformed into a long hallway filled with books. Tall brown bookcases with ladders swirling from one to the other. Every book imaginable, old, new, gold binding and leather-bound. How in the hell... Pippa's focus was immediately drawn to an unnamed book at the end of the furthest bookcase.
That'd be right
Pippa walked down the long corridor, aware of the bellowing noise her shoes made on the hardwood floor. She reached the bookcase and took out the book of interest. Blank cover. Worn out with a slight blue grey tinge. Her back shivered as she stroke the spine.
"This is stupid" she laughed off and opened the front cover.
MAGIC: A Brief Guide
"Pssssht brief" Pippa laughed at the size and weight of the book.
She started to flick through the pages before stopping at a seemingly random page towards the latter half of the book.
Dark Arts...and it's many forms
Pippa had heard about Dark Arts once before, in a meeting in Dumbledore's office, apparently a student not too long ago had been caught using a banned spell in one of Mcgonagall's Transfiguration classes. Luckily no one was hurt but the Staff were disturbed nevertheless, Pippa even saw a slight disdained look creep up on old man sourpuss. She couldn't believe, from reading this seemingly random page the detail on such a forbidden topic. She scanned through the rest of the book....Potions that kill Muggles...............Grindelwald's triumph........ How to Jinx A Flying Car:Prank your friends and Family......
This can't be a real book, how can they print this for Students??
The surrounding lights started to vanish with a strong gust of wind.
I guess I should get going. This place gives me the creeps.
The wind blew pages right out of the book and all over the floor. Pippa scoured around the dark room snatching up pages by the handful. She managed to get away with a few before a bright green light that looked at smelt like a oak fire penetrated the farthest length of the room She heard voices coming from the fireplace, mumbling some unintelligible language. They seemed to be getting closer and louder by the minute. Heat and hot ash blew with the wind straight at great speed towards Pippa.
She ducked the the first blaze, just singing parts of her frizz and a page or two. A voice and tall cloaked figure followed the blaze, hurrying along the other voices. Another gust of wind blew hot ash just inches from Pippa's face, heating her nose. She stood up slowly gathering pages hoping they wouldn't notice. Another three hooded figures appear from the green fireplace dusting themselves off complaining about the difficulties of something called flood powder....or flow power....pippa wasn't quite sure what they were talking about. Another final gust of winder and hot ash, blazed right past Pippa and caused her to sneeze.
"What was that?" One of them said.
"Is someone there?" Another one chimed in.
The hooded figures started to move forward out of the fireplace. Pippa thinking she still had the upper hand reached for one last page which from the sudden burst of light the fire caused, knew that it was the one about Dark Arts.
Dumbledore would want to have a look at who has been publishing detailed descriptions of Dark Art's in library books!
Pippa reached for the paper and found herself touching something solid, with a leathery texture. A shoe? She slowly looked up to see a very dark hooded figure hovering above her head.
I really really should get going
Pippa ran as fast as she could in the opposite direction. The hooded figures chasing after her shooting spells. She prayed for a door, as she ran closer her vision saw glimpses of light as the spells hit the wall and she swore she could see a door forming before her very eyes. She asked no questions and ran straight for it with her fists clenched from pages of the book. She kicked the door open, ran threw and slammed it shut with her back. She leaned against the door, her chest heaving up and down as she still clenched the few pages she managed to escape with from her possible fiery death. As her breathing slowed down she decided it would be better to recover in her chamber but as she started to make her way down to her quarters she quite literally bumped into her fled dark knight.
they both stared at each other for quite some time untill Pippa broke the silence
"And where, for the love of Merlin, Have. You. BEEN!!?????"
"Ms Drake?"
"Youyouyou just Disappeared!? Into thin air!"
"You were pre-occupied with a student. It is not my business to meddle with other teacher's affairs...""
"Other teacher's affairs......oh my Merlin Severus.....Do you know what just happened to me in there?!" Pippa pointed to the wall she had just came through.
Snape shrugged his shoulders and raised his eyebrows.
"There was a door before....anyway....I was attacked by people in hoods whispering some strange language and casting spells at me!"'
Snape's face turned from confusion very quickly to deep concern
"andandnand there was this book, with pages about....Dark Arts....and deadly potions and killer pets!"
Snape's attention turned Pippa's tightly clenched fists, holding scrunched paper
"Those....." He gestured to to paper
"Yes I managed to escape with some evidence, yes... Pippa stated, slightly annoyed, as she cleared her throat and shook off bits of debris and smoke from her robes. ...and I'm off to see Professor Dumbledore as we speak, good day to you Severus"
Pippa gave him a small nod and marched down the hallway with her head held high, fists still full of paper. Leaving Snape concerned, dumbfounded and slightly pleased with how Ms Drake handled herself in the midst of danger.
"Perhaps there is fire in you yet Ms Drake" He chuckled to himself as he swished his way down to his next potions class.
